I travel to Malta often for business and stay at hotels. This time, I took my family for a business trip and vacation. This review provides future guests with an accurate account of our experience regarding communication and property conditions.Initial messaging through VRBO went unanswered. When I called the provided number, I was redirected to an off-site colleague who ignored my messages. The next day, the contact cited a lack of computer access, and communication ceased. After waiting 48 hours, I reached back out to the primary contact with proof of the communication gap but was ignored. Customer support intervened, but the host still did not make contact. I had to request check-in details three days prior to arrival, losing the chance to ask property questions.The property is spacious and well-located, but has major maintenance and cleanliness issues. A bathroom window was broken open, letting in heat and insects. One terrace door had a broken key stuck inside the lock; the other had a missing exterior handle and a shattered glass pane covering a fifth of the door. The vanity door was broken, a bedside table collapsed, and the mattress was uncomfortable. Linens felt unwashed, towels were mismatched, and hair was left on floors. Kitchenware was put away with dried food, and two bags of garbage were left on the terrace. Widespread ants and cockroaches were present on walls, floors, and counters.
