The Sylvia was a beautiful, historic place to stay in Vancouver. We loved being so close to English Bay and walking the paths. The rooms were clean but musty and the beds were pretty uncomfortable. The historic vibe of the hotel was great though and everyone in my party really enjoyed their stay.

We loved the location on the English Bay, the restaurant was lovely looking directly on to the beach. Also, the proximity to Stanley Park and the path along the seawall! The only downside for me, as I have chronic pain, was that the mattress and pillows weren’t very comfortable for me. My daughter felt it was fine, though.

I wish we had more time here! This hotel is a rare gem; great price and location. Room was surprisingly big and decent sound proofing. Wonderful character and pride of ownership - I hope it’s never taken over by a big chain and looses the charm and reasonable rate. I will stay there next time and tell others to give it a try!

Love the Sylvia!

We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite and it was perfect for our needs. The staff are so friendly and helpful and understanding too. We always stay at the Sylvia. It is a unique hotel with a unique history and we highly recommend it for folks who appreciate history and something solid, reliable, comfy and super charming.
