The JBI has the feel of a traditional Inn, from the warm and friendly welcome, through the immaculately maintained heritage structure to your spotlessly clean room! A blend of antique furnishings and modern comfort features such as the wonderful mattress greatly enhanced our stay. Although just a short stroll to the touristy Downtown attractions, make time to explore James Bay and Cook Street Villages to enjoy the plethora of pubs, restaurants and shops, all with a friendly and welcoming vibe. JBI is our first choice for all future visits to Victoria!

Old world comfort and convenient location

The James Bay Hotel is a lovely and comfortable home away from home when visiting Victoria. It is close to downtown and a 5 minute walk to the bus loop connecting to all routes. The management is friendly and very helpful! The restaurant and pub are conveniently situated on the first floor. With good food, welcoming staff and decent prices.. who could ask for more? The only negative .. the amount of stairs to get into the hotel.. and no elevator. Young legs will have no problem! 😃

We absolutely loved her stay at the James Bay Inn. So close to downtown. It’s so charming in the history in the building is fascinating. The staff was so friendly all of them and the room was very very clean.

First time staying here. Lovely and quiet. Nothing super fancy but well done. Love the wonky floors. Building built in 1911 there has been some… settling.

Best hotel owner ever

Absolute best budget hotel. Friendliest owner and staff. I’d stay here again hands down. Great location- 10-15 min walk to downtown but James Bay Area is really nice. Super close to Ogden Point.

Our suite this time was basically an efficiency suite with a separate, well equipped kitchen, bath and bedroom lounge as well as an attached deck. Because of the time of year and weather we didn't have an opportunity to use the deck but found ourselves made to feel very comfortable within the unit. We LOVED the adjacent JBI restaurant and pub, the atmosphere was comfy every meal was great! This was our second stay and the friends we recommended it to stayed as well. A real gem and we will most definitely be back!
