Designed and built by its owner and architect as a private mountain retreat for his family, Breathaway Lodge is ready to welcome guests seeking genuine connection, rest, and relaxation in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
Thoughtfully crafted for comfort, beauty, and gathering, this luxury home invites guests to experience the best of the High Country. Striking timber elements define the interior - and here, the windows are the artwork. Enjoy sweeping panoramic vistas across Beech, Sugar, and Grandfather Mountains and into Eastern Tennessee, changing with every hour of light.
The lodge centers around a west-facing covered porch, designed to bring people together. You'll experience sunrise from the front porch framed by the trees, and those west-facing windows capture spectacular mountain views. Evening sunsets that guests have described as heavenly unfold before you. A stone terrace with a fire table invites gathering and conversation under the open sky. The private rear terrace holds a hot tub where you're immersed in starlight — at this elevation, the stars are absolutely stunning.

- Main-level primary suite with king bed, ensuite bath, soaking tub, heated floors, granite counters, and a beautiful custom tiled shower
- Lower-level king suite with private ensuite bath featuring tiled shower and granite counters
- Additional lower-level king suite with private ensuite bath, tiled shower, and stone counters
- Queen sleeper sofa in the cozy library functions as an additional sleeping space

Important Notes:
- What's Provided: All BRMR homes offer kitchens stocked with all utensils, dishware and cookware needed to cook and enjoy meals. There is also a "starter set" of other essentials including a roll of paper towels, a roll of toilet paper per bath, a couple garbage bags, a small vial of dishwashing liquid, a few tablets of dishwasher detergent, some laundry pods, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and some makeup remover cloths. There are enough of these items for one night, or maybe two. Towels and linens will be provided for you. Each bathroom does have a hairdryer. Please plan to bring any food or pantry items you wish to use.
- Please note that this property absolutely does not permit pets anywhere on the premises at any time including outdoor spaces. This is due to severe allergies. Bona fide service animals as prescribed by a medical professional may be permitted, and the presence of a service animal must be disclosed prior to check-in. Misrepresenting a pet as a service animal is a crime under North Carolina law. Guests who bring a pet to a no-pet home will be subject to a non-refundable $750 fee to reimburse the owner for wrongful use of their home as well as compensate for removing pet hair and dander and clean carpets and upholstery. If any pets are discovered during your tenancy including via security camera or observation of neighbors or BRMR staff, your credit card on file will be charged for the above-mentioned fee.
- Cameras: This home has security cameras to monitor the exterior of the home while it's not in use. The cameras are located at the front door, the garage access, and off the back patio for the view.
- Parking: Gravel driveway with parking for up to five (5) vehicles. There is a lower driveway (first entrance) and upper driveway (second entrance). Two (2) vehicles may park against the house, must be against the house, in the lower driveway otherwise all vehicles may park in the upper driveway.
- Accessing the home: The roads to this home are inclined and curvy in places. 4WD or AWD vehicles are required to access the property during winter months November-April. Chains may be required during times of inclement winter weather. Refunds may not be given due to weather if you do not have the proper vehicle.
- CANCELLATION POLICY - Bookings canceled 60+ days before arrival will receive a refund of the deposit. Bookings canceled between 31-59 days before arrival will receive a refund of half of the deposit. Bookings canceled within 30 days of arrival are not entitled to a refund unless the reservation dates are rebooked to another guest. All bookings are subject to a $50 cancellation fee.
