Bellbird Cottage is a 1 bedroom Waitahanui bach at Lake Taupo. Sitting amongst the trees this compact house is a tranquil lake base - the perfect getaway for 1-2 guests. Just 10 minutes drive from central Taupo, and a hop skip and a jump to the lake for a swim or kayak!

This Waitahanui bach has a well presented open plan living, including a kitchenette, dining, and sitting room with all windows and doors double glazed... For easy outdoor flow, unwind on the 2 decks - enjoying a morning coffee on the east facing area and a wine and BBQ on the west facing area that is accessed through the french doors. This is an ideal spot for laid back holiday dining, or simply sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy the peace and quiet!

There is 1 bedroom at this Waitahanui accommodation, fitted with one queen bed - ideal for couples.

Everything you need for a self-catered, refreshing break away is on hand - stay on site and soak up the serenity, or stroll a few minutes down the street for direct access to the most crystal clear, free flowing river you would ever want to fish or walk along. The Waitahanui River originates from springs at the base of the Kaimanawa Ranges in the Central Plateau, and you will feel especially lucky to have the famous 'Rock Pool' within 5 minutes walk of Bellbird Cottage. There are also many easy walking tracks alongside the river - the cycle and walking tracks take you all the way to Wharewaka from this lovely spot. Plus, the Whakapapa Ski Field is just a 45 minute drive away for winter adventures!

Great spot to relax and unwind. Spent more time on the deck amongst the trees than anywhere else. Great acess to lake and river for a swim and a walk. Really clean and comfortable stay.

Peaceful,tranquil amongst nature.

Collect your key from lockbox, put your feet up and relax. Waitahanui river beautiful prestine waters, walking tracks just a stone throw away. Beautiful cottage will definitely be back in the new year. No wifi no problem nature was the screen. Amenities . Will definitely be returning this year

The cottage had a very well equipped kitchen and was very comfortable. It was very peaceful and had 3 outside options where you could sit. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Room for improvement

Kitchen rubbish had broken lid and need a weight on top of the lid to keep it close. Pot size too small to cook pasta for two. The description mentioned that the mobile signal was variable and that was certainly the case. What was NOT mentioned was that the Bach has NO wifi connection. That might suit some people but not us. Had that been made clear in the description, we would have chosen to stay elsewhere.

Saw a bellbird!

Great little cottage. Just right for the 2 of us. Had everything necessary, even tea and coffee, and they'd left us some milk and muffins! All comfortable and clean. It has long been my ambition in 20 years living here to see a bellbird. They're not even that rare! But I never have until now. Saw several on the lovely Riverside walk accessible from the end of the road, then I saw one just by the cottage! Magical.
