The Neighborhood:

There are two National Trust properties close to Rowington, Baddesley Clinton and Packwood House, with Wroxall Abbey, another fine house and the country seat of Sir Christopher Wren also near by. Close by, Lapworth Village is strongly associated with the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, as the leader of the plotters, Robert Catesby, was born and lived here, and his tomb is in Lapworth Church. Henley-in-Arden boasts one of the most unspoilt high streets in the country, which contains over 150 buildings listed as being of Special or Historic interest. The town has its own Heritage Centre, itself dating back to the 12th century, with many restaurants, traditional pubs and individual shops, as well as a selection of sports facilities including golf courses, tennis courts and fishing.

Place is like a building site

Great location but the whole place needs a good tidy up. Its like a building site. If this had been an overseas package holiday i would have rung the rep. The gardens are full of items strewn all over. Do you check out these cottages or just write what the owner gives you. Stinks of mis-representation to me!!!! The bins were put out on Monday and werent returned till Thursday so the pedal bins were inside in hot weather, one of the owners promised them back on Wednesday but it didn't happen.. The cupboard had a loaf of bread in which was 13 days past its sell by date obviously not checked after previous guests left!!!!. Washing machine was on the blink and we had to move it through the cycles manually. Stunning location but overpriced as the place felt scruffy and uncared for. We also had the misfortune of having a miserable neighbour who, when my wife went for a swim stated she couldnt expect to have a peaceful swim as she was there with her young children. The pool itself looked uncared for and was dirty around the edges. Most of information leaflets were years out of date. I think someone needs to check this place out.............weeds around the front door and at least three vans in the yard every day mixing concrete and generally making the place look untidy. Nobody asked if we were okay or needed anything. Would definitely stay in the area again but not here.

Wonderful rural setting amidst an industrial heartland

The cottage was very pleasant, with a few extra touches to make us welcome. So handy for National Trust properties and Kenilworth. Warwick Castle too, if that's your taste. And then there's Stratford and the RSC. Of course, the heatwave can't be guaranteed every time!… Wonderful group of oaks nearby, very pleasant prospect. Didn't try the pool, but it looked delightful. Several local hostelries worth trying for meals out. And all so close to the industrial Midlands. Highly recommended.
