6 May 2019 by Nikolett - Reception Manager

Dear Debbie, Than you for your feedback! I am really sorry you found the mattress poor. The mattresses that we use in the rooms are up to company standard and our housekeeping staff regularly turn them around to avoid "dips". I will make sure I pass this message onto the department so they can investigate the issue. Regarding to the shower, they are lock on one temperature but you can press the button on the controller and turn it to regulate the water temperature.

Nice wedding hotel but....

Pros: The fireplace by reception was lovely. The rooms were very clean. I’m sorry the cleaner declined my tip.
Cons: The managers must provide leadership to raise standards everywhere. Think through the client experience, stop penny pinching. Competition is coming.
Location: It is a rural setting just outside Wigan, not too far from the M6. THere is a spa/gym/pool (but only 10 metres).
If a good hotel should be welcoming, warm, and attentive to clients there is room for improvement in the Kilhey Court. The hotel is a nice building and priced accordingly, but the experience was lacking. Arriving on a rainy night, the reception entrance had a huge puddle due to an uncleared drain. A soaked foot is poor welcome, when combined with indifference from the reception staff, a cool room (electric storage heating), and tepid showers in the evening and morning. Reception moved us to an equally cool room but at least the water was hot. Breakfast on the Sunday after a large wedding was busy and maintaining a great service stretched the staff. Understandable, but this was the most expensive night of our stay. They advertise their special smoked fish, but despite the £3 supplement on a £12 breakfast, a dry, thin tail end of haddock was poor value. There were other issues but what was most disappointing was the attitude of the managers. Many excuses were offered, but little restituition. We’re going to the new Holiday Inn Express next time we’re in Wigan. They’ve got customer service right.

Nice and comfortable

Very pleasant stay (one night). Nice breakfast (buffet only though) and clean and tidy rooms. Comfortable. A bit hot in the night though and couldn't find where the room thermostat was - and too late to ring someone. But would definitely stay there again.

Rachel

We stayed here for one night as we were going into standish for a friends 40th party. After long delays on the motorway we finally arrived and were greeted by a friendly lady who directed us to our room. It was a long way to room 214 and there was no lift in the main reception of the building - after getting lost we eventually found our room. Nice and clean although for some reason the extractor fan in the bathroom was held together with masking tape ! But a nice room never the less. We then headed towards the gym which was free to use and we really enjoyed using the equipment it's all new and hi tech. After the gym we got ready and the friendly colleagues ordered us a taxi .... When we got back we had a peaceful nights sleep followed by a lovely breakfast the next morning ! To summarise it's great value for money and we would definitely return ! Even after our party when we returned with a pizza, the shift manager offered us plates and sauces etc .....

Visit to DW stadium

Good hotel good location with on site parking . Rooms were a good size clean and warm with full amenities. Bed was comfortable but pillows were uncomfortable. Good selection for breakfast but cooked items were only just warm as it was very busy at the time with a wedding party.
