We had a great experience using Shell Island for the first time, with the exception of the water's unpleasant smell. The location was perfectly suited for our needs, and we plan to revisit in the future.

From the moment you walk into the lobby This place is a mess and it smells Outdated and not cared for Old and not renovated Dirty elevators The clock in the mini living are is wrong..just saying some details matter to some people AC vents are dirty 🧐 The room: it smells it’s outdated the blinds the furniture all of it The kitchen counter dirty upon check in no hot water kettle Not a single bottle of water in the room Nothing! One coffee pack and one filter enough for one cup The curtains in bedroom no long enough to cover the blinds / window So light creeps in from hallways Whoever peeks in from hallway can see you laying in bed Also beds are midgets too short too small WiFi ….it’s simply terrible Toilet seat busted upon check in we did call for maintenance or front desk this place is beyond calling maintenance no use no need and don’t even bother. We don’t use the jacuzzi outside but it looks dirty yellow in color. For what this place is charging it’s a rip off a total rip off No beach chairs or lounges or umbrellas This is pretty much a 2 ⭐️⭐️ at best that’s is in rough shape but charging $300 a night plus taxes & resort fees 😂😂😳😳😵‍💫😵‍💫 Stay somewhere else book somewhere else. Not a chance on earth that we would return here. This property is not worth more than $129.99 a night and still I would not return even if it’s free. This true precise review shall be a wake up call to management and owners ( you should not be in business )

My absolute favorite place to visit! The beach is beautiful, the condos are perfect size and the location is secluded and quiet. We also enjoy going to Wilmington which is an easy 20-ish minute drive.

Sorry, but absolutely no.

Chairs and table on balcony covered with bird droppings - which would've been forgiveable if the room hadn't also been completely filthy. Marks on bedsheets, stains on towels. There were 2 spoons in the "equipped kitchen" - one a teaspoon, one a tablespoon - both dirty in the drawer as were both bowls (of two wildly different sizes) -- AFTER we washed the cups, the spoons, the bowls the three of us had to take turns (I'm not kidding) with the one appropriately sized cereal bowl and spoon. Completely ridiculous. Cleaning aside - the beds were super uncomfortable and none of us got decent sleep at all. Eco friendly? I'm sure they are, because they don't clean (saving water and resources I suppose). Good service? I gave them a three of five because they said they were giving me a full refund (I haven't seen it yet though) and I was able to go elsewhere in the end, but absolutely wouldn't stay here again even if I was paid to do so.

For the amount of money we paid for the room I wouldn’t have expected the water in shower would have horrible drainage. Taking a 5 minute shower you would be standing in bath water then to think it would be drained out over night you wake up to the same amount of water or just a little drainage. Only ice machine that work was on the 8th floor and it was located on 4 floors or you would have to pay for the ice at the front desk. Kids had fun the beach access was great but I will look for another place when we do return. Definitely won’t get that room again if we do return because I know how that drainage works.

As a WB native, I have been coming to Shell Island for many years. The location is amazing and the condos are well kept. Unfortunately, I feel as though the inviting staff and the customer care is not what it used to be. There was a fire alarm that was going off during our stay and we were on the top floor. So, I loaded up the kids and ran down 9 fights of stairs, only to find out it was a test. I asked the front desk why were we not informed? She stated there was a sign on the desk at check in... No memo in the room, no communication when I checked in. Also, apparentely there was a incident where the police had to be called, which caused some concerns. Lastly, when I went to make the bed for the pull out couch, I noticed there were no linens. Called the front desk to ask for an extra bed setting. The response was, "let me check if we have any." Luckily, she found one and said, "you can come down and get it..." Needless to say, I was a bit taken a back. Having a family member that owns one of the properties on Shell Island, I informed them of this and they suggested I write this review. I feel Shell Island has a lot to offer, and unfortunately on this trip, they did not deliver...

We went for a short weekend on the off-season. The descriptions made it seem as though the accommodations would be resort level. The dining options were incredibly limited, to include a lack of fresh fish, which… We’re on the ocean. The access to the beach, as well as the pools was wonderful. The rooms themselves were old, outdated, Coffee pot was rusty and moldy, just quite a bit older than the reviews make it look. Still enjoyed our stay of one night, would highly recommend searching for places that may be closer to more dining options. If that’s a thing that you are interested in. Plenty of room in the suite to make your own meals if you so desire.

Management seems to be going out of its way to make this no better than a two star property. The “gym” for instance. A rack with just one weight, really? Frayed cables on the press is dangerous. Restaurant and pool open way too late. How about a kitchen with just one wine glass? Ice maker didn’t work, no bedding for the pullout, had to walk back down to request. 7ft ceilings in the bathroom? This location is just too good for this hotel and maybe needs to be razed for a new development.
