Experience a Lake District getaway as a couple or a small family, staying in this quaint country cottage, which is perfect for three guests. An exceptional walker’s retreat, this property enjoys direct access to the fells, along with proximity to the vast Lake Windermere (1 mile) and the endless footpaths and cycle routes around it. Walk up Brant Fell (2 miles) to admire the breathtaking view from its summit before descending into Bowness-on-Windermere (2 miles) to reward yourself with a hearty meal. Across the water, Claife Heights (3.5 miles) offers another enjoyable walk, and you can reach the peak by taking a steamer across the lake. The beautiful village of Ambleside (7.5 miles), the quintessentially Lake District town of Windermere (3.5 miles), and the lively town of Kendal (9 miles) are all within reach, each offering shops, pubs, eateries, and tourist attractions to explore on a day off from walking, hiking, or cycling.
Original beams, stone-flagged flooring, and cosy cottage features add to the overwhelming charm of this two-storey abode. The property sits at the back of the main house, which is also a holiday home, and offers access to a hallway with space to store coats and boots. Downstairs, a well-equipped galley-style kitchen is ready and waiting for the chef of the group to prepare the daily meals, and there’s a spacious dining table by the window in the lounge. The lounge/diner is a light-filled room with a feature fireplace housing a warming wood burner and inviting seating opposite the TV. Take the stairs up to the first floor, where you’ll find two bedrooms and a bathroom with a bath and shower over. The king-size bedroom has plenty of space to unwind in and the welcoming single bedroom is perfect for one person or could serve as a place to store suitcases and create additional room.
Step outside to find a small, shared grassy garden where you can sit when the sun is shining. It’s been furnished with a table and chairs, allowing you to dine alfresco or simply sip a sundowner while breathing in that fresh Lakeland air. Ample parking for 2-3 cars.
