Troutbeck, a small settlement in the Lake District, may be located between Windermere and Ambleside, not far from the Kirkstone Pass. Many of these structures, especially those on the northern end, date back to the 17th century, as evidenced by details like mullioned windows and large cylindrical chimneys. Windermere and Ambleside, two nearby towns, both attract many tourists and offer a wide variety of services. Take a boat ride on Lake Windermere and visit the Lakeside Aquarium or hike through Grizedale Forest Park. Children will love Bowness's 'World of Beatrix Potter,' where cutting-edge technology brings the author's beloved characters to life, while adults will appreciate perusing the museum's intriguing collection of boats ('Windermere Steamboat Museum').
