Korona Hotel can be summed up in one word: confusing.
The hotel’s star rating is inconsistent throughout the building. The lobby states it’s a four-star hotel, yet on the same floor there are both three-star and four-star banners posted in the hallway. It’s completely unclear what qualifies as a three- versus four-star room.
We requested a specific Christmas market–view room months in advance and followed up multiple times with no response. At check-in, we were shown a different room and told we would need to pay extra to get the room we had originally booked. We paid the upgrade for our three-night stay.
As Expedia VIP guests, we received drink vouchers for the hotel bar, but the bar was only open the first night and closed for the remainder of our stay. No alternative or apology was offered. The front desk experience overall was tense and impersonal.
Even after paying for the so-called four-star upgrade, amenities were extremely basic—only a bar of soap and shampoo, no slippers—nowhere near four-star standards.
The location is excellent, directly facing the Christmas market with many great restaurants nearby. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. Poor communication, inconsistent standards, and unclear room classifications make it very difficult to justify this hotel as a true four-star property.
