My wife and I truly enjoy our 3-days-2-nights stay at Zao Shiki No Hotel.
This is our every first time visiting Zao, in Yamagata Prefecture.
Free shuttle services are included to-and-fro between Yamagata Station and the hotel (with prior booking of the service)
This is wonderful, and absolutely convenient.
Check-in process is quick and smooth and the front-desk staff is able to communicate with us in English.
The room assigned to us is on the 6 floor. It is so clean and spacious. We love the room!
Breakfasts and dinners are included in our hotel booking. They are great! We enjoy our meals during our stay in the hotel.
The staff in the restaurant are friendly and provide good services.
Thank you for storing a bottle of Sake which I have ordered it during my dinner on the 1st night. Haha.
I couldn't finish drinking the entire 300ml bottle of Sake by myself alone as my wife is not drinking it. The staff is willing to store and keep the bottle of my Sake so that I can enjoy it for my dinner on the 2nd day.
Thank you team!
We enjoy our stay!
We will return some day in the future !
Great hotel that is right next to the best base area at zao onsen resort! The junior suite was incredible, I really liked the Japanese styling with full western amenities. It was extremely spacious and having two in room ac units for the living room and bedroom was great. We never ate dinner at the hotel but my sister and I both really enjoyed the breakfast buffet both days we had it.
Additionally despite a language barrier I found the service to be excellent. Hotel staff came out of the hotel to carry our bags in, and they were very helpful getting us shuttled to the bus station when we left.
My only complaints are price and the indoor onsens. It was very expensive in early February, as nice as the room was, the rest of the facility didn’t quite match the price tag. Additionally the indoor onsen water smelled slightly of chlorine and doesn’t feel like it is sourced from the local sulfur springs. Personally I’d recommend skipping them and just going into town for the public baths unless it’s really late
Everything at this place was absolutely wonderful. The location was right beside the ski hill. The dinners and breakfast were incredible. The staff was very kind, the rooms were immaculate, and the choice of two Onsens - one outside and one inside was wonderful. Very quiet town - wonderfully relaxing vibe. Thank you so much!
My husband and I loved the onsen facility. We also liked the dinner and breakfast. Staffs are very friendly. The pick up and drop-off service was excellent. Thanks
Clean and spacious room. It kinda expensive in ski season, but still the best choice at Zao, Yamagata.
Smoking room is near the lobby, which is a really bad design, you can smell the stinks every time before taking the elevator.
Overall, a great place to stay.
Great staff. Close to the ski lifts. Very enjoyable. Recommend ordering the hotel dinners ahead of time unless you plan on dining in Yamagata (30 min drive).
Great staff. Delicious food.
Shuttle schedule does not coordinate with train schedule. Even the public bus schedule. We came in from Sendai and just missed public bus. Had to wait an hour. For the shuttle bus it was almost a 2 hour wait.
Service was very good. We were picked up at bus station very soon after we informed the hotel of our arrival. Room was clean and spacious. Futon was nice to sleep on. Onsen was good. Meals were delicious, especially the grilled beef.
Very clean and well-kept hotel in Zao, with generous rooms. Perfect for ski-trips or just for a relaxing weekend. Zao is not a big town, so the location is perfect if you want a bit more quiet place in walking distance of the ropeway. Free shuttle to and from the bus terminal goes frequently, available on request. Service was very friendly and accommodating.
Despite the fact that we already had checked out in the morning, we could still use the hot spring bath when we came to the hotel to pick up our luggage in the afternoon, after a day of hiking.
