26a Marygate is part of the conversion of the former York Post Office Club and has been beautifully done. This part of the building has just three two bedroom apartments, each one finished to an extremely high standard. The building is situated off Bootham on a quiet street, facing the historic ruins of St Mary's Abbey. First built in 1088 it is all that remains of one of the wealthiest and most powerful Benedictine monasteries in England.

Garden View Apartment - is situated on the second floor of the building. As it is situated at the top of the building you have a birds eye view of Museum gardens and the Abbey Ruins. The huge arched windows ensure that the apartment is flooded with light. The refurbishment hasn't encroached on the magnificence of the windows, and the light airy feeling is continued through the apartment with the high ceilings and light wood floors. The designer has furnished the apartment with an eye on both the comfort and enjoyment of the guest. The Living area has a striking dining table with more than enough space for everyone to sit down together. The kitchen is fully fitted with everything that you could possibly need and there is still space left over for you to store your holiday treats! There is a separate laundry room set just inside the front door, housing a washer/dryer and plenty of storage.

The lounge area has comfortable, stylish seating and a large smart TV for those times when you just want to stay inside and just kick back and relax.

There are two bedrooms in the apartment, the master bedroom has a super kingsize bed that can be made up as a super king or two single beds, just great for sinking into and recharging for the next day. There are fitted wardrobes that run the length of the bedroom, more than enough space to fit all the outfits that you want to bring with you for the numerous events that York has to offer. There is also a luxurious en suite, complete with a bath with shower over, double sinks and underfloor heating.

The second bedroom again has wall to wall storage and a wonderful double bed to sink into at the end of a very busy day of fun! The house bathroom serves this bedroom and has a walk in shower, again with underfloor heating.

There is dedicated onsite parking for the apartment.

Wonderful apartment

We loved our stay in this wonderful flat ideally located in York. The parking spot located right next to the flat was especially appreciated after numerous other trips to York and previous long walks necessary for parking.The apartment is close to shops and pubs but still very quiet. We would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to York. And thank you for the wonderful welcome basket!

Things not quite right

Most palates and bowls were chipped Only one Dishwasher tablet for three days Toilet roll so so thin Extraction fan somewhere starts at 22.300 and goes on all night then stops at 6.30 in the morning failed to work out where it was coming from No means of getting air into flat unless you jam open the door No coffee table rather odd Dining chairs to low for table Not worthy of prime price Otherwise very good
