Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is situated approximately 16 miles north-west from the county town of York. The town has a great collection of cafes, restaurants and cosy pubs. There is easy access onto the canal and beautiful walks along the River Ure with many boats and the opportunity to do some fishing.
