Embark on a 3-day journey through the stunning landscapes of northern Albania, where dramatic mountains, pristine rivers, and untouched nature await.
Day 1: Tirana → Komani Lake → Valbona
Start early with a scenic drive to Komani Lake, stopping for coffee in Vau i Dejës. Board a ferry across Komani Lake, often compared to the fjords of Norway, and enjoy breathtaking views of steep cliffs and crystal-clear waters. Upon arrival in Fierza, continue the journey to the stunning Valbona Valley, where you’ll check in to a cosy guesthouse. Spend the afternoon exploring, visit the traditional water mill, or simply relax with panoramic mountain views. End the day with a traditional dinner under the stars.
Day 2: Valbona → Theth (Hiking Day)
After breakfast, embark on the legendary Valbona Pass Hike—a challenging yet rewarding 13km trek (5-7h) through the heart of the Albanian Alps. Follow mountain trails, cross alpine meadows, and admire dramatic peaks along the way. Arriving in Theth, check in at a guesthouse and take a short walk to Theth Church, one of the most iconic landmarks in Albania. Visit the Lock-in Tower, a historic site linked to Albania’s ancient blood-feud tradition. Enjoy a hearty dinner and rest for the night.
Day 3: Theth → Grunas Waterfall → Blue Eye → Tirana
Start the day with a hike to Grunas Waterfall, a hidden natural wonder. Continue to Nderlysaj natural pools and hike to the Blue Eye of Theth, a mesmerising turquoise spring surrounded by lush forest. After a traditional lunch, begin the return journey, driving through the scenic Boga Pass and stopping for coffee in Shkodër before arriving back in Tirana in the evening.
