What you can expect

Half Day Safari: Port Elizabeth to Schotia Private Game Reserve

This safari product is specially designed for guests staying or arriving in Port Elizabeth in order to get complimentary pick-up and drop-off transport. Guests staying outside of Port Elizabeth are welcome to meet their guide at 8:45AM or 2:15PM at Schotia Safaris Reception.

Embark on an unforgettable wildlife adventure that begins in the heart of Port Elizabeth—also known as Gqeberha, the “Friendly City.” At 08:00 AM for the morning safari or at 1:30pm for the afternoon safari. You'll be picked up by your experienced safari guide in a comfortable open safari vehicle (OSV) which is the ideal ride to immerse yourself fully in the sights, sounds, and scents of the African bush.

After a scenic 45-minute drive through the Eastern Cape landscape, you'll arrive at Schotia Private Game Reserve, South Africa’s oldest privately owned reserve and one of the best places to witness the iconic Big Five and more. The reserve boasts a rich diversity of wildlife including lions, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, crocodiles, zebras, and a dazzling array of antelope species.

The Experience:

  • Upon arrival, your guide will offer a warm welcome and a brief safety orientation.
  • The morning or afternoon game drive begins on board the OSV providing panoramic views and unobstructed photo opportunities as you travel across Schotia’s rolling grasslands, dense thickets, and open plains.
  • Spotting wildlife is a communal adventure: your guide will help track animals while encouraging you to participate in the spotting—binoculars optional, excitement guaranteed!
  • During the safari, pause for a coffee/tea break in a scenic setting with wildlife wanders within sight's view.

Duration & Return:
The safari lasts approximately 5 hours, with guests arriving back in Port Elizabeth around 1:00 PM for the morning safari and 6:00 PM for the afternoon safari. The day will end filled with awe and great memories of the African bush.
