Discover the tidal zone on Scotland’s wild west coast during a guided open-group snorkelling session near Fort William. Slip into a warm wetsuit, pull on fins, mask, and snorkel, then head out to explore kelp forests and rocky reefs that shelter a surprising variety of marine life. Your qualified guide stays close to help you feel confident in the water, share safety guidance, and point out the details you might otherwise miss—from barnacle “cities” to colourful anemones.
Start by meeting your guide at Banavie Locks Car Park, where you’ll be welcomed by the SeatrekScotland team. After an introduction, you’ll be issued your equipment (wetsuit, hood, gloves, socks, fins, mask, snorkel, and a changing towel). A venue-specific safety briefing follows, covering conditions, signals, and how to get the most from your snorkel. Then it’s time to change and take a short walk to the entry point.
Once in the water, explore at a comfortable pace with the guide on hand for wildlife spotting tips and identification. After the session, return on foot to the vehicle to change into warm, dry clothes, enjoy a hot drink, and warm up. You’ll also receive photos and videos to remember your time in the sea.
Plan for around 5–6 hours in total, and bring swimwear, lace-up trainers you don’t mind getting wet, and warm layers for afterwards.
