What you can expect

Spending a full day in the serene surroundings of Lucerne reveals the charming heart of Switzerland. Views of Albis Pass and Lake Lucerne paint a remarkable backdrop for your journey. Take in the city's main sights with an orientation tour before enjoying an afternoon of independent sightseeing.

After a breathtakingly beautiful drive south from Zurich through the Albis Pass mountain range, you arrive in the picture-perfect city of Lucerne. Whether you casually ponder the breathtaking panorama, shop for sought-after souvenirs, dig through the city's history, or savour some sinful chocolates, the city is sure to charm you.

After a short orientation tour, you have several hours to explore the sights and attractions at your leisure. You might choose to amble through the Old Town, cross over the 14th-century Chapel Bridge, rest your feet on the new City Train, enjoy a lake promenade, or visit the Lion Monument, praised by Mark Twain as “the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world.”

It was not really a tour, just transportation from Zurich to Lucerne, 6hours on your own in Lucerne.. pick up for coming back was late one hour. The guide on the bus was giving some information in a broken English, not much to catch for her.

City is beautiful but it is a long time to be walking around. The guide was very nice and gave us a map with good ideas of where to go.

The Lucerne trip was very nice but just about 1 1/2 hour too long. Trying to navigate the map was a little crazy so we just wandered around and if hit one of the sights then good. My husband and I found new wedding bands there and a set of luggage for ourselves. Another great thing was that the bus had WiFi.

It was great to be able to explore the city on your own, as well as getting a history of Switzerland while in route.

Lucerne was beautiful and adventurous but the tour was basically a bus ride to Lucerne, given a map of the city and you are on your own. Not necessarily bad but guides expected tips after.

The advertised 'Guided tour' was simply being on the bus for ten minutes driving to the drop off point in Lucerne 'Chapel Bridge is just to your right'/ 'There are cafes on the river to eat at' and then being directed off the bus, handed a map and told we would be picked up in six hours!! The 'highlights' were things we would have had to find ourselves rather than being guided to them. If we only wanted transport we would simply have taken the train! Lucerne itself is lovely and well worth going to though.
