If I could give Barry one million stars, I would! Despite Highclere not being open to the public the day we booked our tour (boo!), Barry made our day and adventures so wonderful. We stopped in several villages in the Cotswolds to shop and he took us to a garden center cafe for lunch. He never rushed us at all, but instead allowed us to meander through the towns at our own pace. The highlight, of course, was stopping at the “Downton Abbey Village,” where we saw several locations used during the show’s filming. He was so kind to take pictures of our group, even without us asking. At one point during our drive, I started feeling carsick (hello windy, bumpy English streets!), and he had no problem pulling over to let me walk and breathe some fresh air. My only complain was that it all had to end. :-( We loved our day with Barry and would highly recommend his private day tour to anyone! You won’t be sorry you booked with him.

My mom wanted to see the Cotswolds and the villages of Downton Abbey. We got so much more. Unfortunately Highclere was closed but Barry was open to consider other castle options and villages that filmed my mom’s other favorite shows including Father Brown. We emailed back and forth with ideas and places. With it being private, having the personal touch was key to this flexibility and making it so much more special. Barry knows his history and was a great conversationalist that really made the difference in the day not to mention mom is an older lady who’s not so quick on her feet which is an issue with the bigger group tours. Having the small taxi also helps navigate into villages that would’ve never been possible with the bigger tours. It was worth it and again, thank you Barry for a great day!

Barry took such good care of me. I walk slow and sometimes on rough surfaces have an issue with balance. He was such a gentleman making sure I was alright. He was very knowledgeable of all things Downton. He took me to see sites I expected but also sites I had forgotten about from the show (Blue Swan Inn). I feel I actually got more than I was expecting.

We went to Highclere Castle and the surrounding villages. It was amazing. What added to the tour as much as anything was our guide - Barry! He was spectacular! The information he shared with us on the way back, then toured us through the villages and the patience he extended throughout was unbelievable! We would highly recommend Barry for this tour as well as any tour he is available for. He is knowledgeable, funny and extremely personable! Next time we are in London, we plan to schedule his tours!

We booked this full day Downton Abbey Tour so that my wife could experience the various sites used to film Downton Abbey. Our tour operator, Barry, communicated with us immediately upon booking the tour and provided valuable information that helped us plan our adventure. On the day of the tour, Barry met us at our hotel at the appointed time and described what we'd doing for our full day tour. Barry continued to provide great information on the ride from London to Highclere Castle. Once there, he assured our entrance to the grounds and waited on-site for 2.5 hours while we took the Highclere Castle tour. At the conclusion of our Highclere experience we travelled to 3 other villages in the Cotswald area that were used to film Downton Abbey. Barry explained how the sites were used and took multiple photographs of us during the trip, which he shared at the conclusion of the tour. If you're a Downton Abbey fan and want to take a tour of the sites used for filming, you should definitely book a tour with Barry. He's punctual, professional, and knowledgeable, all valuable qualities in a tour operator.
