Isthmus of Corinth

The Isthmus of Corinth is one of the most important historical and archaeological landmarks in Greece, connecting mainland Greece with the Peloponnese and separating the Saronic Gulf from the Corinthian Gulf. During our private tour, visitors discover the timeless significance of the Isthmus, from antiquity to the modern era. A stop at the Corinth Canal allows time for photographs and an introduction to its modern history. The tour also includes a reference to the Diolkos, the unique ancient paved roadway used for transporting ships overland.

Diakopto–Kalavryta railway

The Diakopto–Kalavryta Rack Railway is one of the most impressive and historic railway projects in Greece. Built in the late 19th century, it connects the coastal town of Diakopto with Kalavryta, passing through the spectacular Vouraikos Gorge. During the journey, the train runs on a rack-and-pinion system, allowing a safe ascent along steep gradients, while passengers enjoy rare natural landscapes, rivers, waterfalls, and stone bridges. Historical & Technical Significance In operation since 1896, it is considered a landmark of industrial heritage. Its rack railway system is unique in Greece. The route is approximately 22 km long and is regarded as one of the most scenic railway journeys in Europe.

Kalavrita

Upon arriving in Kalavryta, you visit the Kalavryta Municipal Holocaust Museum, one of the most important historical sites in Greece. There, you learn about the events of 1943 through testimonies, photographs, and exhibits that reflect the strength and memory of the place. Next, you ascend to Kapi Hill, a site of sacrifice with panoramic views, where history becomes a deeply immersive experience.

Agia Lavra Monastery

The journey continues to the historic Monastery of Agia Lavra, a symbol of the Greek War of Independence of 1821. You learn about the monastery’s role, admire its treasured artefacts, and enjoy the impressive location set within nature. Depending on your available time, you can also visit the Monastery of Mega Spileo, built impressively into the rock, and one of the oldest monasteries in Greece.

Kalavrita Ski Center
