At Whipala Expedition, we know that it is our commitment to show and teach our history, and we believe that to set off on the different excursions or through the landscapes that we offer, it is necessary to start with our grandparents. It's one of those excursions that takes you back in time to their era and brings you closer to the origins of the Atacameña Culture, visiting some of its archaeological sites full of history, such as the Village of Tulor and the Pucara de Quitor. Tulor Village: One of the oldest sites chronologically, dating back to the first settlements in the Atacama Salt Flats basin. It can be visited, as there are older sites that are not accessible. Keep in mind that Tulor has been preserved for centuries under the sand. Pucara de Quitor: It is an Indigenous Fortress. One of the theories is that it was created due to the internal conflicts between communities caused by the decline (fall) of the Tiwanaku Culture, and that later it was notable for being one of the first confrontations between Spaniards and Indigenous people.
