Meet your driver at your hotel and head to Jinqin Teahouse, a beautifully restored Qing‑era courtyard hidden in a residential area. Here, time moves slowly. You'll sit under a sunlit courtyard, sip a steaming cup of gaiwan tea, and watch local elders play chess, chat, and laugh – just as they have for decades. It's the most authentic taste of Chengdu's “slow life.”

Late Morning – Taoism & Fortune‑Telling at Qingyang Palace (10:30 AM)

Qingyang Palace – the oldest and largest Taoist temple in southwestern China. Built over 1,800 years ago, it is known as “the No.1 Taoist Temple of Western Sichuan.” Inside, you'll:

Learn the traditional Taoist folding‑hand salute – a respectful greeting with a hidden meaning

Light incense at the entrance.Try fortune‑telling by drawing a lot – you ask a question, shake a bamboo tube, and a Taoist monk will interpret your destiny in a few short lines. Rub the bronze goat in the main hall – locals believe touching it on the part that aches will heal you.

Lunch – Local Sichuan Cuisine (12:30 PM)

Afternoon – Zen & the Famous Red Wall at Wenshu Monastery (1:30 PM)

In the afternoon, you'll visit Wenshu Monastery, the most important Buddhist temple in Chengdu. Unlike bustling Taoist temples, this place feels peaceful and introspective – monks in saffron robes walk quietly under ancient cypress trees, and the air smells of sandalwood incense. You will:

Walk through the grand halls, including the Sutra Library which holds Buddhist scriptures carved from thousands of blocks.

Take the iconic photo at the monastery's red wall – just outside the main gate, the wall features two Chinese characters, “幸” and “福” (happiness and good fortune). It's the most Instagrammed spot in Wenshu Monastery.

Late Afternoon – Carve Your Own Chinese Seal at Wenshufang (3:30 PM)

Step into Wenshufang – the culturally creative area right next to the monastery. Here, in a quiet workshop, you will:

Learn the 3,000‑year history of Chinese seal carving (a national intangible cultural heritage)

Have your English name translated into Chinese characters by a master artisan

Design your own seal and carve it with traditional tools

Leave with your handmade seal – a one‑of‑a‑kind souvenir stamped with your own name.

Then we wrap up the day, and drop you off at your hotel.
