- This immersive Tibetan Thangka painting workshop in Shanghai invites participants to explore the history, symbolism, and traditional techniques of Thangka art. All painting templates are inspired by traditional Tibetan craftsmanship, reflecting an authentic artistic heritage passed down through generations. All materials, as well as water, tea, fruit, and light snacks, are provided.
The workshop consists of four segments:
Cultural Introduction
An instructor will introduce the history and cultural meaning of Tibetan Thangka art, helping you understand its symbolism and artistic background.
Mindful Preparation Ritual
Before painting begins, you will take part in a simple hand-cleansing and calming preparation to help you focus on the creative process.
Hands-on Painting Experience: Yellow Jambhala Mini Thangka (with 999 Gold Accents)
Guided step-by-step by the instructor, you will create your own mini Thangka painting of Yellow Jambhala, a traditional figure symbolising prosperity and abundance in Tibetan culture. 999 gold detailing is used to enhance your artwork.
Post-Workshop Keepsake
After the session, your finished painting can be turned into a wearable necklace, creating a meaningful cultural souvenir. You will also receive traditional Tibetan incense to take home.
