Best Western Hotels have always been my go-to in the Us and abroad. However, as I told my wife after our last experience, it appears the ‘culture of excellence has changed’. Maybe they hired the knucklehead the took a well respected Bud Light brand to the brink of extinction. In short I used the Hotels.com app with a query for BW hotels in Gallup NM, looked at the rates and could actually see the hotel from the freeway. Went to the front desk and when quoted the rate i asked why the Hotels rate was $30 less. I was told ‘sometimes they get specials, book it and we’ll get a confirm and check you in’. I actually held up my phone to show the clerk and asked ’this is you, right?’ And booked it. Waited a few minutes and it hadn’t appeared on her screen and she said ‘sometimes it takes some time to come across so we went next door for a quick bite, came back 30 minutes later and still nothing. Then I get a confirmation and show it to her and she says ‘ that BW is in ABQ, 125 miles away, I must have made a mistake, sorry’. She called ABQ and they said the manager was not in and I should call back tomorrow or drive back to ABQ and our room was ready! This all occurred within an hour and Hotels.com wouldn’t make the change so our money was effectively stolen. Hotels got paid and BW got paid and we got F’d. we continued our drive and slept in the car at a rest area. I’ll never stay at a BW property again! Enjoy your stolen $$$. You. Are not better than common criminals!
