My stay at Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta started off well. The atmosphere was pleasant, the room was clean, and everything seemed in order. However, my last night completely changed my impression of the hotel. In the middle of the night, I was abruptly woken up by a strong burning smell coming from the air conditioner. As someone with asthma, the smoke-like aroma caused me to cough uncontrollably and triggered breathing issues. I immediately contacted the hotel operator, who said maintenance would be up shortly. The maintenance worker arrived and confirmed that the motor in the air conditioning unit was malfunctioning and causing the burning odor. He said he would return shortly with tools—but he never did. After waiting 45 minutes in a room filled with the smell of burning plastic or electrical components, I began to develop a headache and called the operator again. I asked to be moved to another room on the same floor (the 9th floor), and this time I was told a room was available. I packed all my belongings and, on the way out, saw the maintenance worker walking in the opposite direction while on his phone—not appearing concerned about the urgency of the situation. At the front desk, I was handed a key to a new room, which was thankfully on the same floor, but it was a downgrade from my original king room to a double bed. I was offered complimentary breakfast as compensation, but I declined—I was too upset and physically unwell from the exposure to the burning smell.

Room was filthy without any accommodations no clean drinking glasses. Bathtub was filthy with someone's hair hanging. No soap. Room has some smells hardly bear with.

Used to be a great place. Although clean, needs an upgrade. Unruly guest allowed to spoil atmosphere despite many complaints (for 8 hours) from many other guest! Poor security. Church of God in Christ group had parents who neglected in rooms while holding meetings.A Pandamonious playground of dangerous roughhousing in rooms and hallways with Disrespectfully Lying children refusing to settle down. some maids were trying to locate parents to no avail. Front desk failed to address complaints due to lack of urgency and/or intelligence.
