El Figueral is our remote Olive Farm/Finca with a large, secluded Farmhouse (Villa) and private access to the River Ebro. The original house was built over 400 years ago and redeveloped by us in 2007 retaining much of its old charm while modernising and expanding the property with light open living space. The South and East sides of the house have a veranda that provides shade to the patios, the kitchen, dining, and lounge areas open directly onto the pool and patio arears. The layout and position of the house takes full advantage of its unique location. The property has 3 bedrooms that can sleep up to 9 persons and we have 2 cots available for infants; The bedrooms consist of a double with on-suite, twin with on suite and a family room with a double and three single bunk beds (the family shower/wc is adjacent). The ground floor is designed for easy living with each of the main entertainment areas opening out onto patios and the swimming pool. Aligning the split-level lounge/dining area and divided by an atrium are three ground floor bedrooms, two of which are on-suite plus a family shower room. The lounge is located on the lower split level with dual aspect patio doors leading to a balcony overlooking the River Ebro and the swimming pool. It contains two large sofas around the coffee table situated with the TV (Movistar), DVD/VHF player and HDMI cable for entertainment. Located in and on the areas, furniture are a selection of DVD, books, and games. Also located on this level is a feature wood burning fire surrounded by 4 armchairs, it is amazing how this fire keeps the thick-walled house warm in the colder periods. Of course, the house is centrally heated, and air conditioned in all rooms to handle any climate conditions. The dining area on the upper split level includes a dining table and 8 chairs, the accompanying dining room sideboard hosts a B&O stereo system. In keeping with the house style there are patio doors leading to the dining area patio with furniture and views looking over the pool and river valley. The original ground floor area is now an open kitchen and small lounge area still containing it’s old, beamed ceiling. There is a Kitchen Island with 6 stools, so you don’t have to cook alone and a small kitchen lounge with TV and wood burning fire. The kitchen is well equipped with cutlery and utensils, dish washer, 2 fridge/freezers, large wine cooler, coffee machine, microwave, electric oven, and gas hobs. Again, in keeping with the house style there are patio doors leading to a patio area with a large table and chairs, BBQ, open area for relaxing in the sun, and our old Olive tree and views over the valley. The olive tree is synonymous with the product of the farm and its olives are still used in the making of our unique blend of olive oil. We always keep the wine cooler stocked with recommended wines of the local area that guests can purchase, as Is the case with our olive oil. While El-Figueral is quiet and remote it is well connected with easy access to the C-12, around 35-40 minutes inland from the closest beaches of the Costa Dorada, 25 minutes from the historic city of Tortosa and the towns of Gandesa and Mora with the cities of Barcelona and Valencia within 2.5hrs drive. The closest village is the riverside village of Benifallet, 2.5 km from the villa and approached by a farm track, the property is situated 58m above the river in a protected area where you will not be disturbed, perhaps by the odd eagle, splash of a rising fish or the sound of a tractor. This is an opportunity for an amazing rural "real Spain" family holiday in a location that provides stunning views over the River Ebro and mountains and the opportunity, if interested in fishing, of the very real prospect of catching a PB from our private stretch of the River Ebro (we hire fishing tackle, boats, sell bait and issue licenses).
