The check in was okay, did it on a self service machine in the lobby, but it was very redundant in the sense that I had to re enter all my information even though I had already done so when I initially booked the room online. This was my first time at this hotel so I was surprised that in order for the room electricity and ameneties to be usable you needed to place the room key card into the card slot on the wall, keep this in mind in case if you are staying with multiple people and someone needs to stay in the hotel room. For some reason the wall between the bed and the bathroom had a small glass window view? The room itself was very clean and came with fresh towels and bottles of soap, had a mini fridge and some chairs and a desk as well as a tv with limited channels. The biggest plus of this hotel was that it is right outside the airport door, no need to find local transportation to the airport, it is a 30 second walk away from the entrance. There is also a Rewe super market located inside the airport door for great last minute purchases late at night or during the day.

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times as I travel to Berlin from NYC often. It’s very convenient. If I have an early flight from Berlin it works great to stay, sleep a bit more than a further hotel or friends place in the center would allow. From the Steigenberger you just walk over to check-in. Very easy. The beds are comfortable. It’s clean. I like to get the best price through Orbitz and then upgrade because I need enough room to do yoga or move around w my man who is not a small guy. The sauna is genuine Finnish (definitely 90 degrees) which isn’t always the case with hotels these days so that is much appreciated! This trip they were renovating the showers so we went back to our room in our bathrobes to shower. Not a big deal. I’ve eaten at the restaurant before which has been good, not amazing, but this time we ordered room service and I had excellent lamb! My partner had a great burger. We brought our own red wine from a trip to France which I recommend over German red wines - sorry my Deutsch friends ; ) but I digress. You can’t beat the convenience of the Steigenberger and when you can get a good price, I highly recommend it.

Great value

This hotel is right next to the airport. It is really true that the rooms are sound proof. I am a really light sleeper and didn't hear a single plane taking off. The room was very spacious and clean. My only complaint would be that I couldn't figure out how to use the thermostat to lower the temperature in the room. I like to sleep in a cooler room than what I was able to achieve, but I should have contacted the front desk to get their help. Overall, very nice hotel and a great value. The convenience to the airport can't be beat! You literally walk out the front door and into Terminal 1.
