not at all as advertised, very expensive for what it was. Breakfast hours were not posted and closed before 9:40, staff was not helpful as we stood outside freezing with 4 year old that doesn’t want to hear no breakfast no pool yet either

Where & When: Days Inn, Birch Run, Michigan, on Friday, December 12, 2025 , reservation #91038EE019186. We finally pulled in late after working all day and driving five hours, so let's call the official start time "The End of a Very Long Day." The Approach: Forget a driveway, you've got a choice between a "ski slope" or a "toboggan run." Then there was the side lot, a "monster of a hole" that tried to eat the car. We barely escaped and had to use a back entrance. Outside Decor: Found our way in only to navigate a thrilling, ice-and-snow-covered sidewalk. Check-in: The one bright spot! Honestly, the most pleasant interaction of the whole miserable affair. Room "Aroma": Opening the door released a BOOM of "I have no idea" smell—a sophisticated blend of cigar smoke, weed, mildew, and just a hint of eau de pee. Pre-Bed Prep: Before daring to sleep, we did a full bed-bug inspection, stripped the sheets, and emptied an entire can of disinfectant. Travel pro move, but still a terrible sign. The Bathroom of Horrors: The doorway was so narrow, a walker wouldn't stand a chance. Looked up and saw what appeared to be "Cousin IT" living in the fan box (a.k.a. ceiling mold or just that much filth). More mold around the toilet, a collapsing shower curtain, and peeling paint. The shower pressure was so weak, a man with a prostate problem could have peed harder. Electric Grievances: Most of the outlets were so worn out we had to use a Christmas gift as a doorstop.

Got 3 rooms. My daughters toilet bubbled over onto the floor while we were at dinner. Her door had a broken lock and the toilet paper was used not changed. The second room next door her toilet bubbled over as well. Our room literally smelled like an ash tray. And a very long black hair was on one of the pillows and were both blonds. The shower water did not work so no water at all. Never again.

The first room we were put in was freezing cold in the middle of the night so we called the front desk and they were gracious and moved us quickly to another room. While the heat worked in that room you could see gaps in between the door and the wall and feel the air flowing through it. We had to keep the heat at 80* just to keep a sleep able temperature. The front desk staff was friendly, helpful and professional. The rooms were not in good repair.
