Unfortunately this accomodation really was the only dissspointing part of our holiday. Cairns is a amazing place we absolutely loved our time in Cairns but the accomodation was definitely not what we hoped for. From the condition of the room with what looked like vomit all down the wall in bathroom mould all through the shower grout 1 face cloth for 2 people and no towels at all after room servicing and some of there cleaning cloths left in room they really need to look at training their staff. The decor and carpets are all very tired. Bed was so soft and 2 pillows that were as flat as pancakes. Sadly this is not a gd reflection on Rydges as a hotel brand I definitely would not stay here again.

We watch sun rise and set from our ocean view room The room was comfortable but bathroom need attention regarding small amounts of mould We were told that the hotels are really struggling in cairns This showed in having ask for tea bags toilet and towels and other guests mentioned the same issue The staff went out way to help and nothing was a problem If you arrive early and won’t your rooom there was a $20 a hour charge The muddy cafe is a 5 minute walk on the esplanade is well worth visit

This was a wonderful place to stay surrounded by parks and splash parks for the children. The pools at the hotel were not heated so the splash parks were a good choice. Staff was so friendly and helpful, really enjoyed our stay.

Enjoyed our stay at the Rydes Esplanade. Nice room that was a good size with with good amenities. Would have liked access to Foxtel or similar shows. TV was not a smart TV so that is something that could be improved. Otherwise Wife and I were very happy with our choice.

The Staff are great and the location is good. Nightly happy hour seemed very popular. The hotel is looking quite tired. The decking around the pool has been neglected. Certainly in need of an upgrade.

My wife and I booked a queen room with sea view, so we would have a room with more space and a sofa, because I'm on crutches and needed room and something comfortable to sit in, they gave us a family room, the 2nd room took up all the space, no sofa had to sit on single dining seats. Balcony had no chairs, or table hence was a waste of time paying for a sea view room, I like sitting outside to have my morning coffee. Rooms are old and not well cleaned. Had to pay $15 for parking and wife stepped out on a used syringe the 1st night we were there. The food though was very nice. Staff were friendly enough, although, just wanted to move me on when I had the conversation regarding my different room, staff said we were upgraded, poor reason, why upgrade a middle-aged couple with a family room :( Also, floors were so slippery, they have caution signs regarding slippery floor, be good to change tiles to non-slip. We tried it, will not go back!!

The cleanliness of the hotel is terrible. Our room had holes in the wall and was just run down. The pillows were flatter than a stamp and the walls and doors hadn’t had a wipe in years. The carpets in the halls were filthy and in the three days we were there the clumps of dirt, a small rubbish remained and thus weren’t vacuumed. Our room was not cleaned the first day and cleaned 6pm the next night.
