China Southern Airlines was established in 1988 following the restructuring of the Civil Aviation Administration of China. Its main hubs are in Beijing Capital International Airport and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. It is now one of China’s ‘big three’ airlines, the sixth largest in the world in terms of number of passengers, and Asia’s largest airline both in terms of fleet size and passengers carried. Its routes cover 193 destinations in 35 countries worldwide, including 65 international destinations. China Southern Airlines flights maintain the highest safety record in China, and in 2011 it gained four-star status from Skytrax as well as the Skytrax ‘World’s Most Improved Airline’ award.
