Far away from everything. Terrible beach . Isolated resort with nothing to go out and explore. Very disappointed. Barely any restrooms around pools.

In general the resort is calm and very relaxing. Food is average. Drinks are amazing. Very poor quality in live music. They have to change up the schedule of events(same thing everyday). We booked the suite with the jacuzzi outside which is pricey! Since day one, the TV remote did not work to change channels. I called the reception and two maintenance workers came to the room and said they couldn’t fix the issue and had to wait for the next day to change the entire TV. The only way to turn the TV off was to unplug it from the power. They never changed the TV so the entire stay we were stuck to one channel and had to unplug and replug the TV in. On the second day of our stay around 3 AM there was water leaking from the ceiling where the single jacuzzi is in the room. Water all over the floor, it was a mess! I called reception again and all they provided was towels and said maintenance would come in around 8am to fix issue. So we were un able to sleep since 3 AM. Besides that everything else was okay. Housekeeping is amazing and so is the minibar service.

Beach and pools are great. Food is fine. Staff is solid. Room was very musty smelling and in need of update (grout). Ants appeared but front desk responded promptly but then we had the chemical odor combined with musty smell. We were there 7 years ago and couldn’t wait to go back. If they claim a renovation we’d consider returning. Grounds are really nice and well maintained.

Was there 3 days, contracted an infection that went through bloodstream, extremes pain, vomiting, swelling, unable to walk etc. still in hospital trying to get well enough to fly home…hotel had zero empathy other than doctors who called ambulance…in fact, manager at front desk tried to have my husband sign a waiver that says hotel is not responsible & tried to bribe him with cash? Disgusting would never go back & will be sure to tell everyone we know

Fourth visit to this resort, last time was 5 years ago. Excellent service & staff! Some managers remembered us from prior years, that really meant something! Still prefer the buffet to the restaurants. Reception staff kind and accommodating. Two negative things, one was the trash and glasses/plates left around the resort for days, and the trash on the beach, second thing was the lax attitude regarding (lack of) clothes at the dinning places and people smoking right outside of the entrances or vaping indoor (not in designated areas). An adult only option would be nice since children were running around and screaming constantly and hanging out in "adult" areas. Overall appreciate the CR people and beautiful surroundings. Pura Vida!

Traveled here for my birthday and staff made me feel special and welcomed. The resort is beautiful and clean and the food and drinks were pretty good too. I would rate my experience 10/10. It is slightly more expensive than its sister hotel Riu Guanecaste but so very worth the money. I will only be staying at Riu Palace from here on out while in Costa Rica.

I am very through when it comes to trips. If you are a solo traveler or even looking for a family vacation . This is a good place to stay. Pros: - The hotel staff is very kind and helpful. Even the workers fixing up the hotel. Easy to show you where to go if needed. - It is safe ! The resort is gated and there is security that checks cars and vans coming in and out. I saw a comment about someone losing money from their room. The resorts’ gate security checks employees belongings before leaving work. - Food choices are pretty good for all inclusive. They have an omelette bar in the mornings where you can pick your choice of fixings for the cook to make. So yummy !! - I did not book excursions prior to my trip because I felt I would get better deals at the resort and I did !! There are different companies at the resorts that offer many excursions. I went on the volcano sight seeing / hike with a mud bath . It was an experience I will never forget. - Souvenirs: The resort has amazing shops to buy souvenirs, however I love how the local merchants were allowed on the resort on the beach. You are able to negotiate prices with them. Some can be more aggressive to sell than others. Con’s: There’s no true nightlife at the resorts, except a mini club on the outskirts and the shows the resorts have a 9pm nightly. - BUGS ! I made sure to lock my screen door at night because the creatures come out at night. I still ended with a beetle in my room. Overall a good vacay spot

The property itself is beautiful! Plenty of space around the resort to venture. My typical day would start at Cappuccino sipping a fresh coffee overlooking the pool areas outside. Then I would go change into my trunks and cruise over to the swim up bar. Let me just say that the bartenders and service staff here are all so friendly and made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. Come for the staff and have a good time with them! After the swim up bar it would be back to the room for a quick change for dinner which they do have several dining spots to choose from all different styles of food too. The entertainment was great, didn't get a chance to catch too many shows but really enjoyed the ones we did go to and the kahoot trivia was super fun. Scuba Caribe was great for excursions and were very convenient because it's all done through the resort. All in all it was a really great trip and super close to the Diamante Adventure Park if you want to spend a day there. Honestly can't go wrong with this resort.

Magnificent, impressive structure, awesome pools, many options. Restaurants all excellent, buffets superb, rooms nice, clean, comfortable. Entire staff, through out the all inclusive property was outstanding, friendly, courteous, helpful and did their best to engage us in our own language. It is evident that RIU values their employees and spends a considerable amount of time and effort in quality staff training. Absolutely no complaints!

The staff were amazing. Lots of pools and chairs never felt too crammed. Locals selling on the beach but were not too pushy.

This was our first time staying at a Riu property, but it won't be the last. We had a fantastic time. Food and Drinks - Both were plentiful and delicious. There are four themed restaurants and a buffet. The buffet is plentiful and spacious. There are lots of options for everyone, although picky kids may be a little disappointed. The chicken fingers were overcooked, the fries were hit and miss, and the jello was overly gelatinous (more like a jello jiggler). But with hundreds of food items, those were the few rare misses. Staff - super friendly and attentive. Sitting by the pool you will have a new drink pretty much as you finish your last one. We had dozens of interactions, and found each and every person to be friendly, attentive, and actually care about our enjoyment. Cleanliness - Top notch. Constant cleaning. Overall, while Costa Rica was an amazing place to visit, this resort helped make our trip a truly memorable experience. I would absolutely come back!
