Airports in Japan

Narita International Airport and Kansai International Airport are the most commonly used airports in Japan. The largest international airport in the country is Narita Airport, located 43 miles from Tokyo. The airport also serves as a major hub for flights between Asia and the Americas. Kansai International services the cities of Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto and is located 24 miles south of the city of Osaka.

Travelling from the Airport

Both airports are surprisingly well-connected, likely because of their lengthy distance from major cities. At Narita International, bus and train tickets are purchased at special counters in the airport. Buses can be found on level 4 of Terminal 1 and on level 3 of Terminal 2. There is a railway station at each of the two terminals with routes to Tokyo. Travellers out of Kansai International are greeted with multiple options, including buses, rails, and taxis. For those planning to take the rail, they must choose between the JR Line and Nankai Line. You must avoid taxis, as fares at both airports are incredibly expensive. For a ride from Kansai International to Osaka, the fare is over ¥16,000. Typically, the fastest way to travel from both airports to the city is to take a high-speed railway.

Japan Weather

The country experiences four different seasons, each displaying its own specific weather patterns.

Springs brings with it comfortable temperatures and the famous cherry blossoms, making it one of the best times of year to visit the city. Summer months can be sweltering, with temperatures spiking to 40°C and uncomfortable humidity. The summer months also bring the rains, making it one of the worst times to visit. Fall ushers in more pleasant conditions, with less rain, heat, and humidity. This is another ideal season to visit the country; winters are cold, with snow and ice falling in much of the country.
