The room was very clean but a little dated. It is a 3 story building with no elevator and no a/c. We didn’t mind as it had a ceiling fan and another floor fan. We didn’t see that in the advertising.

Clean room, okay for a night stay, especially if you're just in town to visit the volcanoes and Hilo. Walls of room look like prison brick walls. Bed was pretty firm and uncomfortable. Bay view was great and no issues without AC since there is a ceiling fan as well as a standing fan. plus if you just leave the balcony screen door open, the nice bay breeze comes in and the calming sounds of the bay. Rooms and corridors need some TLC and sprucing up. Front desk staff provided a smooth check in and check out process.

The room was clean but it is very, very bare bones. There is no A/C but the sliding door opens, a very noisy fan was provided. The television buffered so badly that we gave up trying to watch a movie. The front desk clerk was very sweet. The hotel was in direct alignment with the runway so the aircraft literally rattles the windows. I cannot recommend this hotel even though it was clean.

This isn't an elegant hotel, but we thought it was very good for the money we paid. It's located between 2 parks (1 right next door, the other about 1/2 mile in the other direction.

I am writing to formally file a complaint and request a refund for our recent stay at Hilo Reeds Bay Hotel, which fell well below reasonable expectations and significantly disrupted my family’s vacation. Upon entering our room for the first time, there was a gecko inside the room, indicating inadequate pest control. More seriously, we encountered ants in our clothing and personal belongings, and our children were bitten. This created a health and sanitation concern, especially for our family. As a result, we had to spend a considerable amount of time during our stay cleaning our clothes one by one to avoid bringing ants home, which took away from the vacation experience we paid for. In addition, the Wi-Fi was extremely unreliable and largely unusable inside our room, despite being listed as an available amenity at the time of booking. This further added to the inconvenience. There were also hazardous steps on the property that were not clearly marked. My wife and children tripped over these steps multiple times, raising serious safety concerns. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the risk was very real and distressing. These issues—sanitation problems, safety hazards, loss of advertised amenities, and the significant amount of time spent addressing these problems—were not disclosed at booking and materially affected the quality and value of our stay. Given the circumstances, we respectfully request a refund for this reservation.

The room was clean. The check in lady was friendly and it all went smoothly. Location is great. We enjoyed sitting on the waterfront, and seeing turtles swimming. Parking was not an issue for us. The room has a ceiling fan, two stand up fans, and windows can open to bring fresh air in. My son used their wifi which worked better than my AT&T data plan. Not a fancy hotel but very affordable.

I thought the place was a little janky and shady the first night. It looks like it was a military barracks in the past. The next day I saw more guests, and we went around town. Turns out, for the area, this is a half decent place. We had a corner room right on the bay, like, RIGHT on it. That was really nice. There's no AC, but the breeze flowed through there well.

We had a corner King room (320) that over looked the bay with a balcony. The views were stunning and we had a wonderful breeze. We even slept with just the screen and fell asleep to the sound of the ocean. The bed was comfy, the shower hot and all appliances worked (refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker). Room also has a kitchen with utensils and plates. The place is a little dated but super clean. Also note there is no elevator in this 3 story building. Easy walking to nearby beach, park and restaurant. Recommend and would stay here again.
