Sunrock is an oasis in the big city. Property is always clean, staff courteous/ professional and the grounds are beautiful.

Stylish hotel with mice in the bedrooms

On checking in we found a mouse on the bed. We reported it and it took 20 mins to get support with removing it, with 4 members of staff present it took us to do most the work in removing it. No apologies, though they did change the bedsheets. We found mouse droppings on the bed coverings and behind the wardrobe, so looks like it had been there a while. We asked to be changed rooms, which was refused as apparently fully booked. Without the mouse experience and poor customer service the hotel would have been a nice oasis in a rough part of Johannesburg. It does have a nice heated outside pool. If I had been paying 500 Rand, i would have been disappointed but not left a poor review, but at over 2000 Rand and apparently 4 star, I found the staff response poor.

We stayed here twice before and after our flight to Mauritius. The Staff is super nice and they are great with airport pickup and drop off. It is also very close to the airport. They have a free breakfast and offer a dinner buffet in the evening. it is a very nice property, all rooms are on ground floor with nice green space around, a nice pool area, beautiful garden and bar area. We would stay here again.

The room was not so spacious, but it was clean, and we had a comfortable stay. There are shops and restaurants within walking distance. The staff were very friendly, and the airport shuttle service was helpful. However, the one thing we didn’t like was that the staff member who picked us up from the airport persistently urged us to sign up for a one-day or half-day tour of Johannesburg, even after arriving at the guesthouse. We eventually joined a half-day tour, but the experience was quite different from what had been explained beforehand. At the end, we were asked to make a donation to a facility for underprivileged children, which felt semi-forced, and we suspect the money went into his pocket. There are many travel companies offering such tours, and we think it would be better to join one of them instead.

we were very happy we choose to stay at the Sunrock guest house, we stayed here twice at the beginning and end of our trip to Mauritius. Everyone is super nice and helpful, we send a What's app from the airport and got promptly picked up, we could store one of our suitcases here during our trip- thanks so much. they serve a buffet in the evening which costs around R250, a free breakfast buffet is included. We arrived both times around noon and it was no problem at all, they even had the rooms ready for us, we really appreciated this. It is the perfect place for a stay close to the airport. Thanks for the great time.

Oasis

The rooms all appear to be at ground level, amongst beautiful gardens and a tall safety wall. The entertainment area around the heated pool is very welcoming, as is the upstairs gym. I’m so impressed I’m returning there in a few days.

This is a delightful oasis 5 minutes from the airport: safe, stylish and beautiful. Everything is provided - food, drinks, pool, transport. If only every airport had a local place like this!
