Lots of extra fees. Double resort fees charged.

Our flight was canceled and had to find hotel for 2 extra nights. The room rate shown was fairly reasonable but did not include the "resort fee" of which I was charged twice on the resort fees. Once by Hotels.com and then again at the Royal Lahaina. Parking fees were ridiculous and staff at checkin was rude and not very helpful. So don't go by nightly room rate when booking this property. The person working at the pool towel and rental booth was rude. And snapped at another guest because they touched the sunscreen pump on the counter. The room was ok but had mold on sink and shower. For the amount of money they were charging I expected everything to be clean. The mini fridge was old and no microwave in room. I would not stay here again. Definitely a bad ending to our trip.

Expedia should consider revoking this hotel's vip status. Review summary: Eat here, but do not stay here ! Pros: everything that we ate tasted great, branches had a cool ambience. Cons: Room 9005 had termites in the tv console (we noticed mounds of wood granules under the console), so we were downgraded from the 9th floor to the 4th floor (we werent offered any compensation or even an apology for this experience). The new room also had dead insect wings in the corner, next to the balcony screen door. Check in was slow because there was only 1 person at the front desk (this was also the case during checkout), resort fee page on their website says "daily Hawaiian cultural classes to be held" but the cultural center is only open Tue to Thu from 9a-12p. Expedia gold status wasn't recognized, so dont expect any upgrades. The cons definitely outweighed the pros for us and so we won't return here, nor recommend this hotel to anyone.
