Enjoy a holiday in the car-free mountain village, in a sunny and quiet location, in the middle of an imposing mountain massif in the oldest house in the village. "Wherever you go, remember God, you will not be disgraced or spotted. Da man zahlt 1658" is written in the house motto. Cosy, rustic rooms restored under homeland security. Whether for two or up to 6 people, the whole house is at your disposal. On the ground floor there is a kitchen, bathroom, living room and 1 bedroom and 2 further bedrooms are on the upper floor. A cot and high chair are available for the youngest guests. Special feature, the sitting stove from 1917 in the living room.
During the renovation in April 2021, carpets were replaced with parquet flooring, the roof and thus the house were newly insulated and the wood-burning stove was replaced. The house is now heated by a pellet boiler.
New beds and bedside tables have been in use in the upper bedrooms since the 2022 summer season. The lighting has been modernised throughout the hotel. Mirrors have been installed in the bedrooms at the request of female guests.
The outdoor area with garden fireplace or the sheltered arbour invite you to linger. The newly positioned outdoor seating area in front of the house with a large table offers a wonderful view of the mountains: Mönch, Jungfrau, Breithorn, Tschingelhorn, Spitzhorn, Grosshorn, Gespaltenhorn and Büttlassen and Sefinenfurke, which provides the connection to the Kiental.
From winter season '24, the handrail in the stairway will ensure greater safety in the house. The original Gimmelwald garden bar invites you to enjoy an aperitif or a nightcap.
Gimmelwald is not accessible by car. Park it in Stechelberg and float into your holiday with the Schilthorn cable car.... From December 24, the direct connection to Mürren will be in operation, relieving the section to Gimmelwald. We can still be reached every half hour and with better quality thanks to shorter queues, less crowding and more space. As a result, Gimmelwald more than lives up to its reputation as a quiet mountain village: PEACE AND NATURE COMBINED!
