Central Camberwell

Pros: The friendly, welcoming atmosphere and the clean, comfortable room.
Cons: I would have liked a kettle in the room, rather than having to go downstairs to the bar for the free coffee/tea.
Location: Close to the amazing Silk Road restaurant. Within 5 mins walk of several decent pubs and a range of good little cafes.
This is a really nice hotel. Some of the reviews and photos were a little off-putting but, in reality, the hotel was comfortable and clean; the room was small but well appointed; the staff could not have been friendlier, or more efficient. We were in the top room, and yes, it was up three short flights of stairs, but this is a beautiful old building not a bland hotel chain with lifts, etc. We were only there for one night but would have been happy to stay longer. If we are staying in Camberwell again, we will definitely book here again and I would certainly recommend this little place to others.

Quirky hotel, location good

Pros: Had what I needed, clean, comfortable.
Location: Was on Business, arrived by Taxi, it is on main road, so there are shops etc accessible, it is about 25 mins walk to Oval Tube, is on a bus route.
So not knowing the area too well, was on business and had a few places to go, so was about 25 min walk to oval tube station but main road very accessible , bus routes etc. was good value for London too The hotel is quirky but not uncomfortable, you have every thing you need, didn't even mind not having ensuite. Room I stayed in no 23, lots of stairs and was on the front of building so road noise was in the background. But I would stay again if in the area. Breakfast facilities - continental great choice).

Stylish, smaller scale and intimate boutique type hotel.

Full of spanish character. Great value for money in the ever expensive and generally disappointing london hotel scene. Thoughtful details in study cafe area with free tea and coffee with excellent bar and breakfast restaurant service. Charming and helpful staff. No Cliche. Classic Camberwell Swimming pool exactly next door and close to bus links to central London. Recommend without hesitation.

Comfortable and very pleasant stay

This hotel is not situated in the the most convenient spot but was perfect for us visiting family just a 10 minute walk away. The buses in and out of central London are excellent, very close and convenient and so situation does not really need to be an issue. It is an interesting decor and makes the hotel very different. The staff were always pleasant and helpful and the room , with en suite was extremely comfortable. There were a lot of stairs up to the room as there is no lift, and it is a little complicated to find your way, but again the staff made every effort to help. There are no drink making facilities in the bedrooms. There is a lounge part way up the stairs and free drinks - with high quality products - are always available to make yourself, however, carrying cups of hot coffee up 3 flights of stairs was a little tricky! Continental breakfast was included with our deal , and again this was delicious and high quality food. Other cooked items were available to order at a small extra cost. If you like somewhere that is not a chain hotel and is a little quirky, then stay here. You won' be disappointed

nice hotel with economic aspects

Very friendly staff, small but very tidy and clean rooms, crystal clear towels, fresh juice on breakfast with delicious croissants and fresh bread. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the center by a double-decker and tube.

Weekday break

staff very friendly and attentive. Excellent breakfast. There were a lot of stairs to our room- this may not be comfortable for all. Overall good experience.
