Good but can do better

Check in was fine, room wasn’t ready due to our early arrival so took our bags and said would call as soon as room became available. On getting the room key some hours later we were informed of the free mini bar which was a lovely unexpected surprise but they said if it was empty on getting to the room it would be filled by that afternoon which never happened. No big deal as it was unexpected but don’t say and then not deliver. Breakfast the following morning was a bit of a mess and not what you would expect from a hotel at this price point. The food itself was lovely all be it slow to arrive it was more the staff, forgetting toast and sauces when asked several times, seemed to be understaffed or lack of experience with running a dining room

The hotel was great and ease of checking in. The only thing that needs addressing is breakfast. There did not seem to be enough staff and our table was not cleared at all. There was a group of us on the table with very little room to manoeuvre plates etc. This was the only issue we had otherwise a great overnight stay. Thank you

The staff were very friendly, professional & attentive in reception, I feel the boxes of single teabags which had various single tea flavours bags in was not adequate as this ment we had to share 1 bag & could only have 1 cup on arrival, I did request more Breakfast tea in the late evening on our return which did not arrive, I called in the morning & 2 were immediately sent up.

Great Location Lovely Warm Welcome Up to date interior Room Comfort, Perfect. Restaurant - very accommodating and we could tell the staff loved what they do. Breakfast was a little confusing as we got shown to a seat and left with no idea that we could help ourselves to the yogurts and fruit. Breakfast order was taken eventually so this is the only are i think the hotel could improve.

We had a very bad stay and experience at Middle Eight. - First night we had to change room in the evening because of horrendous smell of weed in the room coming in from an other room (with a so-called VIP guest) - Second night the air conditioning was not working in our room and it turned into a 30 degree sauna. Had to change again - What stood out the most actually was the bad service throughout: 1. On every issue we were met with untrue or evasive answers 2. After the second night change we complained that with this kind of service we are unwilling to pay and got a bs offer of 20% discount one night. Unfortunately had to really argue but finally to their credit that night became complimentary. 3. Breakfast is advertised as having gluten-free options. On all three mornings they were out of GF toast… on the last morning they offered to go to local sainsbury to buy it. What a turn off No never again this hotel for us. Wannabe 5 star place lacking very much on service level in their staff

It was not as good as we have had before. Long wait for room and we had an old scratched table in there which spoilt the room and made it look small. Was clean and tidy and we had complimentary prosecco for a family Birthday which was a lovely surprise. Unfortunately we were very offended by our name being wrong. It was booked under Snell and we got our room key with Smelly written on it which really was not a nice start to our stay.

Good location, room let it down.

I stayed here with VIP access although I’m not sure what element was VIP, The hotel is quiet and in a good location and very impressive down in the main foyer and bar. The check in was good as we were early and so we dropped our bags before heading out. Unfortunately, the room was a letdown. Our aircon didn’t work and, despite a member of the facilities team coming to fix it it - it still didn’t work and we had to have a stand up fan in the room overnight to make it bearable. The mini bar also didn’t have any refreshments in on arrival which we had to ask for, even though there was a note saying the first round was on the hotel (which I assume was the VIP part) so a small coke, lemonade and bottle of water was brought up. I was surprised not to have any alcoholic beverages in a mini bar for such a large hotel.

we were on 7 th floor …. terrible smell for three days asked to fix it, they did offer to move us but the other room had no windows…. odd. big rooms , great staff , quiet location, cool hotel , great breakfast, small gym…. the smell ruined a great review.
