We can only tip our hats to Pitt Street. Back when gents set their toppers squarely above their brows, this home was one of the finest milliners in Kensington. And whether you turn to the original shop window, the ivied patio, the clean-lined kitchen or the drawing room’s piano and chaise longue, this home still suits all styles. If the bonnet-makers have departed Kensington High Street, its boutiques are just as elegant as ever, while nearby Hyde Park still clatters with the sound of hooves as it did some decades ago. Your hosts favour walks through Kensington Gardens, picnics in Hyde Park and bike rides to Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square in their downtime. And from Pitt Street, they’re perfectly placed for all three. Thanks to its swathes of pine and blonde wood, this traditional home is particularly cosy. Make for the white sofa and let your glance linger over the artwork, or lay languidly on the chaise longue in the gleam of the sash window. The cushy sitting room waits expectantly downstairs, or perhaps you’ll stretch out in the radiant, contemporary kitchen. Sit down to dinner at the polished table for six – but not without imagining the window shoppers of yore passing the other side of the splendid period window.
Home Truths:
- This home is spread over five floors with no internal elevator. There is parking on request at this home, which if available can be pre-arranged. Please speak to our destinations specialists if you wish to enquire about the space. As there is no permanent storage in the double bedroom, we will provide a collapsible wardrobe and a hanging rail for your stay. The fireplace in the sitting room is ornamental. This home has air-conditioning in the kitchen and dining room only. Between June and September, we'll place fans in all other bedrooms. Please let us know if you'd like fans outside the summer period.
- This is a private home with some personal touches.
- Please note this property requires full payment for the stay prior to check-in, guests will receive a message from the property with a secure payment link after booking. The lead guest must be at least 25 years old, we will check the lead guest’s I.D. and secure a £1,000 hold on a credit or debit card which will be released once we confirm no damage was caused during your stay.
