2/10 Terrible

If you’re travelling from the UK and are familiar with the usual DoubleTree standards, this branch will come as a real shock. I understand the building is old (as many in New York are), but the level of maintenance is far below what you’d expect, and frankly Hilton would be better off without this property in its portfolio.
The carpets at the entrance are dirty, the staff are not welcoming, and there’s an overall attitude as if guests should be grateful to be there. The lifts are old, slow, and have an odd smell. With only two lifts serving 26 floors, expect a 20‑minute wait every morning during peak times.
Breakfast is another major issue. It’s a seated service, but the dining area only accommodates 42 people—completely inadequate for a 26‑floor hotel. Every morning, guests were visibly frustrated while waiting far too long to be seated. The entire process, from waiting to ordering to receiving food, takes 60–90 minutes. It’s poor planning, and the staff don’t seem concerned.
My room also had a strong, unpleasant smell. When I raised this with reception and mentioned that this wasn’t the standard I was used to from DoubleTree in London, the response was, “Well, this is not London, this is America.” That was enough for me—I checked out a day early.
I’m disappointed that Expedia recommended this hotel despite having my travel history. There was no support from them either; I submitted feedback through the app and received no response from customer service.
Be cautious…..
