I was told there would be free calls from the room. There was not. I don't own a cell phone so had to go to front desk to make calls for food and limo. They were not trained by management on how to handle it. It was different every time.

First off, what do you expect from a hotel on 3rd Avenue in Brooklyn? My expectations were low to the point where it would be hard to imagine them being any lower. This hotel managed to come in under them though. I've stayed here several times, because I'm cheap. That is the only reason a person would stay here. Because they don't want to spend the money on somewhere nicer, or they can't. Extremely and needlessly noisy - the stairwell doors are constantly slamming, the elevator beeps very loudly, the maid is in the echo-y hallway blasting music through her phone speaker and singing along - easy things to fix The carpet in the room was damp. They seem to be running some sort of shelter as well, which I'm all for but it's awfully expensive given that. I lived in this area are of Brooklyn for quite a while, so I know it to be relatively safe, but if I was coming from out of town I would probably think it looked pretty sketchy. I don't know how I would have been able to sleep had I not had earplugs. So noisy. I've stayed in many hotels in NYC and I lived there for 15 years - it's a noisy place. I fully understand that. But this place is needlessly noisy, cheap, damp, sad and still expensive. The guys at the front desk are really polite and friendly. That part of the transaction is always easy.
