When we contacted the front desk again to follow up on the room change and request additional fans, we were met with complete disregard. The front desk agent not only told us nothing could be done until the next day—despite it being 2:30 AM—but actually hung up on us mid-call when we asked for further assistance. This level of unprofessionalism is not only shocking but completely unacceptable. We had plans to travel upstate early Easter Sunday morning to be with family—the main reason for our visit—and the lack of sleep and extreme discomfort in our room made for a miserable night. To make matters worse, no effort was made the following day to address the issue or move us to another room. It wasn’t until check-out that we finally spoke with someone at the front desk who was kind and understanding, but unfortunately, by that time, there was nothing he could do to remedy the situation. This experience severely impacted our stay and tarnished our perception of the Freehand brand. For a hospitality provider, comfort and professionalism should be top priorities, and regrettably, neither were delivered during this stay.

The staff are exceptional and very helpful throughout the stay. The ac in our room didnt not work nor was their hot water in the shower. The bed was very comfortable and the location is about a 20 minute walk from time's Square.

I admit I have not stayed in Manhattan in a while. Still, for the cost, I expected more. Room was very small. Bed not comfortable. No cups in the room, making it difficult to drink water. No “do not disturb” hanger for door knob. The heat/AC was primitive by modern standards. I guess the biggest thing it has going for it is…location.

The hotel room was very cute, clean, and it was a great stay for a long weekend. I loved the hotel bars and everyone who worked there was incredibly nice. The location was perfect. I would be very happy to stay again.

My friends and I each split rooms. The walls are very thin and we could hear each other talking. The AC did not work and because the room is small, it quickly became very humid and we happened to be staying during 80° weather. In order to get some air, we were left with no choice but to open the window, but given it’s NY, it was extremely loud to continue keeping the window open. Therefore, it was SO difficult to sleep at night. I figured there would be no point in calling maintenance since it was late at night already, we were leaving the next morning, and because I doubt it would be fixed immediately. Once I checked out, I asked for an itemized bill to be sent to my email. They asked for my email, gave it to them, told me it would be sent right away, and left. A few hours later (I’m already at JFK at this point), someone called to ask if I checked out because there was a note that said my belongings were still there. That was impossible since I had everything of mine with me… Disorganized. I asked them again since I was on the phone with them for my itemized bill to be emailed to me since I didn’t receive it. They told me they were never given an email. I don’t understand the lack of communication and the disorganization. Don’t be fooled by the photos and rooftop bar. Our stay here was moderate at best. I will not be coming back.

Freehand was a great place for my wife and I to stay on a short trip to NYC. The staff was excellent, the hotel was beautiful with interesting architecture, our room was comfortable and well appointed. The location was perfect for us, as were visiting our son in Gramercy. Would definitely recommend, and stay there again.

I took my 9 year old son here for the night for April break. It was magical. From the moment you enter you are greeted by the nicest staff. Check in was clear and easy. The accommodations were spectacular - imagine a bunk bed!! over a queen bed of your very own. The room was quiet - even close to the elevator. A delicious cafe and coffee shop await you in the lobby. Ms Pac Man! Walk to everything that you need. We will be back at least every year.
