Strict and Inconsistent
Overall the Edison was a great hotel. My wife and I went with some friends for an anniversary trip. The hotel was very clean and most of the staff was very friendly and helpful. It has a great 20's vibe with the decor and atmosphere. The restaurants and bars were very good and if you want to venture out it is in an excellent location with lots of top notch food in the area.
Unfortunately there were a few issues that would keep me from giving this hotel 5 stars. First, the room needs a mini fridge. With all the great restaurants in the area we wanted to bring leftovers back to savor later and couldn't. It would also be great to have a cold bottle of water handy.
Second, they are very strict & Inconsistent with the checkin/out policy. We arrived early and attempted to check in and were told it would be a $65 charge for the early hour. Our friends at the other end of the desk were given their room right then. When asking about a late check out we we were told it was also an exorbitant fee.
Lastly, check out is listed as 12:00. We were up early and went out for some last minute site seeing. We arrived back to the hotel to check out at 11:45 to find that our room keys had already been deactivated so we couldn't use the elevator or get into our room to retrieve our bags.
Again, overall a great hotel and would stay again. Just a few things that would really put it over the top.
