Decent accomodation

I had been really concerned after reading some bad reviews about the hotel. There was also no excuse for not receiving any response to the four emails I sent to the hotel in the months preceding our stay. It is in a great position, but there is no doubt this hotel is tired. Our room was clean, but noisy aircon so I opened the windows to have noisy aircon generator noise from outside! Yes there was a view of the Empire State through a small side window if I craned my neck. Decor is in need of a serious update. There is no kettle or tea/coffee facilities, but there is a small fridge/minibar. This is a three star accomodation in my opinion. I have stayed in a dozen or so NYC hotels over the years and as far as position, this one is great, but furnishing quality is basic with aircon noisy and positively antiquated. Staff were friendly.

5 Nights in March 2016

Fine big room room and comfy bed. Great location and great price too. Staff were courteous and professional as opposed to warm and welcoming. No tea / coffee making facilities in the room. Available on request ..... I had to request twice (in person as room phone didn't work) .... A kettle never did arrive !! Wifi worked in room but not in lobby. Those inconveniences aside .. I would recommend this hotel for short stays in NYC.

Great hotel

Right in the heart of midtown, the location was perfect for most attractions and sights and Grand Central Terminal was just a few blocks away which was also very handy for the subway. We had a stunning view of the Empire State Building out of our window. Just as you'd expect from a St. Giles hotel. It did not disappoint. I wouldn't normally stay in a high end hotel but I got a good deal on booking which made it all the more worthwhile. The staff were very helpful and informative with getting around the area and we were able to check in early. The only thing I wasn't aware of was a card payment on check in that you use as credit to spend within the hotel. But you get back what you don't spend when you check out and you can pay in cash instead but it is more. The room was fairly comfortable and clean and had everything we needed. It also had a mini bar and there was an in room dining menu for breakfast and dinner but we just ate out. The Wi-Fi connection was very good and fast. They also stored our bags away when we checked out and arranged a cab for us when we returned to collect them. The thermostat was a little complicated to use and we did have a little difficulty with getting the room to our desired temperature at times but since we weren't spending much time in our room it wasn't a major issue. Overall the room, experience and hotel in general was great and worth the money.

Perfect hotel for us

Great staff, great location, amazing value. You won't regret staying here. Restaurant downstairs (Beers and Buns) was fantastic. Staff were all extremely helpful and friendly, no question left unanswered or request left unfulfilled. Would definitely stay here again on another visit to NYC, could not recommend more!

the great big apple

The location of this hotel was very good,located between lexington and park ave,you are within 5 minutes walk of everything new york has to offer,with a great diner (scottys) across the street serving the best breakfasts i have had in a long time.The hotel room was very clean and comfortable but was generally in need of some updating.The windows kept none of the road noise out so was very noisey and the ill fitted blinds didnt help to keep the light out either.The staff were both friendly but also a little rude at times which did put me off.

The Court Delivers

Modern hotel with great amenities. Free WiFi a big bonus. Location is great for sightseeing, many within walking distance. Beer and Buns bar/restaurant next door provides a great place to eat too. Value for money hotel for the visitor with helpful and informative staff.
