Disappointing stay

We have stayed at the Kitano before. It is the most convenient hotel to where we spend time. However, it is really showing its age now. lighting in room is very dim and hard to work in if the sun isn't shining bright. Bathroom shower/tub combo is not intuitive and took time to figure out. Water temp took a while to get hot in mid-afternoon. Had to ask for our "perks" 2 out of 4 nights. Housekeeping did not do a good job of thoroughly cleaning the room (especially carpet). Front desk staff was very nice and professional, and the breakfast team also did a nice job. For a cost of almost $500 with the taxes, not worth the money. There are much nicer hotels in that price point, although may not be as convenient as Murray Hill neighborhood.

I have been staying in Kitano for over two years now because of work reasons. I always feel welcome. Its a hotel with much character, cozy, extremely friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. The dinning place offers a very good breakfast both American as well as Japanese offerings. Its not a big hotel brand, which makes it even more interesting.

The location is fantastic, very convenient. The staff was wonderful. The atmosphere of the hotel was very cool. Loved the terrace bar. Amazing views. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. I loved the heater in the bathroom and a warming toilet seat. Out visit was in January so the warm toilet seat was a very nice touch.

The property is ideal if you want to be near Grand Central, but far enough from it in a clean safe, less traveled part of Park Ave. It is a nice midsize hotel with a older generational high end feel to it.

It was a lovely hotel in a great area. Very walkable to trains and subway and midtown. Restaurant and rooftop bar very expensive and there isn’t much directly around it- worth walking around a bit!
