We liked the unique decor of our room, very comfortable, the cleanliness and the location, the staff was professional. We could have used a heavier blanket on our bed. We had a great stay and were about to leave as very happy, satisfied customers, but upon checkout we’re surprised to learn that tacked on to our bill was a “resort” fee which we were not made aware of at the time of booking. That left a sour taste in our mouths. When using Expedia to shop one is made to believe that the rate is “all inclusive” but in reality it isn’t. Also we question what this “resort” fee covers in a property like this one in Manhattan. There wasn’t even a pool at this location, so are they talking about the bar or restaurant?

My favourite hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia is the Sylvia Hotel, which was built in 1912 and has been updated… the Westgate reminds me of the Sylvia… the windows that open are wonderful to enjoy the sounds of New York and fresh air… the beds are very comfortable… the staff are very helpful and accommodating… I was doing business at the United Nations and the Westgate is a block up the street to the west from the UN…
