Embarcadero Resort Hotel & Marina
"The room was clean, the location is fantastic. Had our room ready to go early before we were actually supposed to check in. The staff were fantastic. Everything was great, except some changes to the amenities. To be frank, I stay here because of the crabbing and fishing dock. It's truly unique. Years past, you used to be able to leave your crab pots out overnight, and come back for them loaded with crab in the morning. Evidently last year, the first year I've missed staying here in close to 30 years before that, the policy was changed and you're now required to pull pots out at night. Not only that, but now the dock closes at 10PM. The fish only start biting after dark. This trip, that meant having an hour of good fishing per night. Evidently between stays, the crab cookers were also changed out. To put it frankly, the new cookers are hazardous to say the least. The old design, there was an active pilot light on, and all you had to do was turn up the timer, gas cranks on, ignites, and presto you're boiling crab. Now? You have to crank up the gas with no pilot light, and use a lighter to ignite the gas. If you're not fast, or if the lighters don't work (which they often didn't), gas would build up and ignite intensely. After the second time doing it, I quit using the pots. It's frankly hazardous. Given the changes, I don't know if I'll return, which is a shame."
