Welcome to this historic house in the most emblematic street of Pollença: the Calvario.



Casa Maria, is a traditional house with a great deal of character. It features a stone facade and arched entrance followed by two riveted wooden doors. You can feel its charm from the very first step. Back in the day, it was a famous artisan embroidery store, as well as a house. It has an area of 300 square meters distributed over 4 floors and it is located at the confluence of Calvario and Ferrà streets.



Calvario street is located in the old town of Pollença. It is a unique street: a stairway of 365 steps just for pedestrians. However, since it’s a corner house you also have the privilege to reach it by car through Ferrà street. Plus it has a garage that can accommodate a small car.



Nevertheless, we would recommend not to use the car, since you will be in the center of the town and only five minutes by foot from to the Plaça Mayor (the main square), where you can enjoy a wide range of restaurants, cafes and a delicious ice cream parlor.



All the rooms are equipped with air conditioning units. On the first floor you will find a large entrance hall decorated with antique and vintage furniture with windows overlooking Calvario street. The entrance hall leads to the bedroom with double bed, which has an en-suite bathroom and a mezzanine that encourages relaxation. This floor has an original pavement composed of handmade stones extracted from the Majorcan coast.



On the 1st floor you can find an exterior-facing queen-sized bedroom with wooden floors, great light and a balcony window overlooking the Puig de Pollença. Adjacent, you’ll come across the cream marble bathroom with an integrated bathtub.



On the same floor there is a spacious living room, with a cast iron stove and two large windows alongside great views. The adjoining kitchen is roomie enough to accommodate a round table for 4 people, it is fully equipped and has a separate pantry for storage. Next to it you will find the laundry room, with a newly bought washing machine and a dryer (Bosch) and a clothesline.



The upper floor houses a terrace with a shower and two generously sized bedrooms with large windows and boasts an impressive panoramic view. The master bedroom has an office area, being totally exterior it enjoys magnificent views over the village of Pollença. The cherry on top is the hydromassage jacuzzi from where you can enjoy the unique landscape!



On the top floor there is yet another terrace with a porch and a barbecue, which invites you to enjoy and contemplate the surroundings of El Calvari.



At 6 km distance you will find the ( port )Puerto de Pollença is located in the north of Mallorca. The bay offers kilometres of fine sandy beaches, some of which are protected from the wind by the Formentor peninsula. Unlike other holiday resorts on Mallorca, the coast is not completely built up with multi-storey hotel castles. Here you will find long sandy beaches lined with pine and palm trees, a wide selection of cafés and restaurants, clothing shops, supermarkets and doctors.

Maria lived through difficult times, with strong political upheavals and a civil war. Her strong and independent character, together with a privileged intelligence, endowed with a special artistic sensibility and great creativity, made her an extraordinary woman.

She achieved an independence that in those times was not easy. With hard work she bought the house of Calvary which was practically a ruin. Transformed it into her home, opened a workshop and a sale point.

The house reflects her personality. The floor of the entrance ,she wanted to transport the beach of LLenaire to her house and so on for many Sundays,when she went swimming in Puerto de Pollença, she brought stones from the seashore in order to make a special pavement, when you enter her home, is the "floor of the sea", that sea she loved so much.

On the façade of the house, we keep some tiles that read "Casa Maria", a benchmark of this craft discipline, embroidery.

Townhouse Casa Maria and Homevillas 360

Exceptional reviews of this place led us to it, but our experience was not exceptional. Check-In- House keys missing from keybox on arrival on very hot afternoon. Standing in the hot sun with our pile of luggage unable to enter was not welcoming; Essential amenity (air conditioning) not working- A very, very hot house awaited us but the A/C, controlled remotely, was not turned on for us. Waited many hot hours before it turned on, and then found A/C in one bedroom not working; Other minor negatives-two dirty dishes in cabinet, one bathroom shower fixed to mostly very hot water, hot water supply inadequate for a full house if jacuzzi is used, occasional whiff of sewer smells in ground floor hall and bedroom; we lit candles to manage. Some of these negatives we would have overlooked had the hosting been premier. Yes the exceptionally generous welcome package that was stocked in the kitchen and fridge was wonderful! But apart from how to find the house and how to get in, there was zero personal effort in any communication about the house, house use guidance. To our A/C woes, no proactive offer of a fan(something we requested twice). Finally when we asked for consideration of compensation for the lack of an essential amenity during our stay, Homevillas 360 replied:- “Are you looking for money now?” We solved your problem, you can't contact me with this, thank you and may life go well.” So on hosting, impersonal,ending in somewhat rude note - Vrbo blocks review no.of words so
