The rooms were great. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. The only drawback was the food and the drinks. As an all inclusive there should be availability for all their guests to enjoy the amenities but there were times were we were turned away from specific restaurants and also there wasn’t enough food. Additionally their alcoholic drinks were watered down. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The buffet food isn't very good quality, and the menu is very limited. For example, the meat they offer is low quality and has a lot of fat and gristle. The pork is prepared almost the same way every day, and the chicken is always torn to shreds. At the à la carte restaurant, the food is mediocre, but the portions are very small. On the other hand, and perhaps the worst issue, are the hotel's policies. You're not allowed to move the umbrellas to get shade, you can't move the beach or pool furniture, you can't play with the children in the pool and throw them around, you can't take food from the restaurants to your room—you absolutely have to order room service, and if you want a snack, you can't serve yourself; you have to ask the waiter. Also, if you order a soft drink at the buffet, it takes ages because they don't have a soda machine there; you have to go to the bar. We've stayed at hotels like the Mayan by Vidanta, the RIU, and the Park Royal, and in none of them did we feel as restricted as at the Buenaventura. We will not come back and we will not recommend the Buenaventura Grand Hotel

We stay at Buenaventura at least two times a year. There are numerous wonderful things about the resort. Above all, the staff is outstanding, they are attentive and friendly and helpful in a heartbeat as needed. The resort is always extremely clean. They have added new very comfortable loungers on the beach. They do a beautiful job with their theme nights, especially their Mexican fiesta night. There are a couple of things that in my opinion should be addressed. The first is that while they have two elliptical machines in the gym, one has not worked for the last five years and the second also now does not work. The gym also only has one mat occasionally. There is no spray or wipes to clean up your equipment when finished. Secondly, they have a discriminating dress code for the buffet restaurant. Men must cover their shoulders, meaning they are not allowed to wear a sleeveless shirt at all. However, a woman can go in with spaghetti straps or even a bathing suit top and shorts or skirt, and that is perfectly fine. It seems odd that it is OK for a woman to bear her shoulders but not a man, I think that should be changed. The location can’t be beat, especially now since they have extended the Malecon even further north.

Overall the Hotel is Great! 15 mins walk to Malecon, 20 mins from the Airport, tacos stands around the hotel.Food insidebthe Hotel is good but did not get chance to try the speacialty restaurant that is included in the package.The guest ambassador name Alicia gave us a hard time to to book the restaurants due to fact that we did not take the tour(selling).stayed there for 4 nights and evertytime we asked she jusy sayas come back tomorrow the booking is full.overall the buffet staff are friendly.

The Mexican Fiesta was the highlight of our stay and was very well executed. We previously stayed at Buenaventura in Dec 2021, and this visit felt noticeably different. Based on this experience, we unlikely return. Room: The bed was very hard, which caused back pain daily by the 2ndnight. The room temp also set to cool only to 67°F and did not feel as though it truly reached that setting. Additionally, the shower water was consistently lukewarm to cold, never getting properly hot. Sunset Restaurant: Dinner reservations were difficult to secure unless made by 8:00 AM. We arrived at 8:15 PM for an 8:30 reservation to find a sign stating the restaurant was closed, with staff clearing and cleaning all tables so we dined elsewhere. The next day we were told it had been open, which did not align with what we experienced. We dined there two other evenings. The first meal was excellent, including a perfectly prepared lobster bisque. The second visit was less successful, with overcooked fish and gritty lobster bisque. Buffet: The buffet was mediocre for breakfast & dinner. i.e.The orange juice was noticeably watered down. The resort had a strong retirement-cruise atmosphere. The guest demographic appeared to be largely between 60-80 yrs old, resulting in a very low-energy environment. Poolside music reflected this tone and remained consistently subdued. Beach seating was limited, few tables and with many chairs reserved with towels but unused.

Good place to visit with a family. Food options were not the greatest, buffet food was average at best and really the only option. The one night we did the "sunset" restaurant for a birthday the food was again just OK. We did the paid upgrade for a steak and it was raw and flavorless, not even a little salt or pepper on the meat. The beach and pools were nice and bar staff was attentive. Rooms were a little small.
