We had a wonderful stay and couldn’t be happier with our experience. From the moment we arrived, everything was seamless, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged. The room was spotless, well-appointed, and incredibly relaxing, making it easy to feel at home straight away. What truly set this stay apart, however, was the exceptional service - especially from Star, the duty manager. Star went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, greeting us warmly, showing us around, and handling everything with professionalism, kindness, and genuine care. It’s rare to encounter someone who leads with such attentiveness and pride, and it made a huge difference to our stay. The entire team clearly reflects Star’s high standards, and it shows in every interaction. We felt genuinely welcomed and well looked after throughout our visit. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, quality, and outstanding hospitality. This is not a luxury hotel. At $515 US dollars per night, I expected a lot better. The room was fine, the bathroom doesn’t have counter space for toiletries, the windows aren’t properly sealed because we kept them closed the whole time and still so many bugs managed to get in our room. Parking is bad, there are 4 parking spots for 10 rooms. If I had paid $150 for this, I would be ok, but definitely not worth more than that.

This hotel is such a gem. The views on the lake from the property are great. The hotel staff is great-Michelle was so helpful and friendly. There are nice spas on the property. We would recommend this property.

What a lovely setting for a stay in Rotarua! Close enough to town to have easy access while keeping a bit of distance between the amazing geysers and their aromas and antics. Further, the rooms and grounds are a destination in themselves, with the accommodating manager Rajiv Shama and his staff always available to help with questions, reservations, and transportation. Breakfasts were lovely and fast. Take the time to walk the grounds and talk to the parrots. Thoroughly charming.

Awful experience on our honeymoon, not 5*

We stayed here for one night during our honeymoon - had a completely awful experience. We arrived from a long drive to be told there was nowhere for us to park our car. There was also no space for us at dinner, and no room service, so we were told to travel to town for food. This was already an awful start in a supposedly five star hotel. Our room was completely open to everyone walking in and out of the reception, felt like a motel. It smelled like damp and the shower was in dire need of maintenance (flaking paint, mouldy sealant). After getting some dinner in town, we came back to find out that there wasn’t any hot water in our shower. All the staff had left for the evening so there was nobody to notify, or who could help. Overall a really poor experience, and definitely not five star. I would struggle to give it one star

Very special relaxing stay

Spectacular location overlooking the lake. Quiet and peaceful. The conservatory was lovely to relax with a cuppa overlooking the gardens. Comfortable bed, lovely deep soaking bath. Great breakfast overlooking the black swans in the lake. Wish we had longer than one night. Fantastic service. CJ gave an excellent recommendation to go soak in a local hot waterfall which was a fantastic experience!

This is a very pretty, instagram able hotel. It is clean and the staff was very nice. The reason I am not giving it 5 stars is that the rooms do not have a deadbolt, chain, or other way for someone inside the room to lock the room so that a hotel employee with a key cannot enter. This is a dealbreaker for me - I would not have stayed here if I had known. The reason is that years ago in another country a hotel employee entered my room with a key and assaulted me. I honestly thought it was a building code requirement for hotels to have deadbolts. I highly recommend the hotel install them.
